After graduating from Royal West, Liu attended Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. A career in politics wasn’t on her radar. She was a second-year student at McGill University studying history and culture studies when, to her huge surprise, she won the Rivière-des-Mille-Îles riding for the NDP in May’s federal election.

“I didn’t think I would end up in politics, to be honest,” Liu told The Gazette after her talk. She had been thinking of a career as a writer or a historian.

She has rented a place in St. Eustache and says she is shopping for a car. She has sometimes gone to see constituents on her bike. “I got teased about it a lot from the municipal councillors because they call me ‘the bike MP.’ ”

Well Jack rode his bike everywhere so Liu has nothing to be ashamed of. She just has to mention Jack's fav mode of transportation and the constituents will be supporting her big time.

Well, her riding includes the suburban cities of Saint-Eustache (pop. 42,062), Boisbriand (26,483) (next-door to Sainte-Therese), Deux-Montagnes (17,402) and Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac (11,311), stretching about 17 km along the river. Happy biking.
