pro or again an electric car race in montreal
Are you for or against an electric car race in Montreal?
I think electric car races are coming - I have links to electric race cars and motorcycles, some of which I've posted in the electric car thread here on babble.
Yes according to the media it comming in 2013.
They are talking about an even close to the formula 1 race.
If we keep the two even close we will keep the tourist for about at least four day with the $$$ in the local economy
I miss the days of Quebec driver Gilles Villeneuve and his son Jacques. I used to really like Ferraris.
I am all for electric car races! In a crash the explosion will probably be safer...
I would go an electric car race - no smoke, noise (other than screeching tires), and, if they were truly competitive, more excitement.
By the way, I saw an article recently - I can dig it up - that said muscle cars like the big V8 Mustangs and Camaros are by far outselling the hybrids and electrics in the USA.
This electric car race is pretty exciting:
What an incredible race!
@ M. Spector!
That's pretty cool (it's almost as exciting at this short clip from 2010, particularly the view from Ryan Hunter Reay's car at ~350 km/h).
The reflexes necessary for that electric car racing are amazing (and probably pretty similar to those needed for racing full-sized cars). The slightest possible hesitation by the driver and the driver loses a place (or crashes).
Anyone remember the electric Corvette chasing Dirty Harry's Ford through the streets of San Franciso in the movie The Dead Pool? The R/C Corvette did wheeelies, flew through the air, and cornered as if on rails.
Imagine in real size with the new TM4 motors with only two wheel motor it got the same power as the corvette. With inovation it could easly match a formula one car!
Around 1960 I enjoyed electric slot car racing - especially the versions put out by COX Racing - sponsors of the Jim Hall Chaparral in full size Can-Am racing. I went to races at Mosport and Mount Tremblant, and later raced a Mini Cooper myself.

Kind of irrelevant given the supply of muscle cars versus hybrids and electrics, to say nothing of the relative price.
i am against it for a simple reason. while electic cars sound great for the environment they must be charged and that does come from fossil fuels therefore still yucky
unless the power only comes via hydro electric which in the case of monteral i beleive is false since they import power from the usofa

Yeah, I'm against movie theatres for the same reason.

First of all my dear friend Montreal or other cities is on the same network in Quebec so the electricity come from the same source.
You can find the import and export of energy at :http://www.hydroquebec.com/transenergie/en/index.html
As you will be able to see we sell much more to the us that we buy also there is many bio energy projet on developpement.
So you don't have to be worry green energy in quebec.
I miss Lefauve.
I still miss Lefauve. And here's a story which I just wanted to post somewhere:
[url=http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/story/2013/02/17/quebec-jacques-v... snowmobile racer Villeneuve remains in serious condition[/url]
Snowmobile racer Jacques Villeneuve, the uncle of the race car driver with the same name, remains in intensive care at the Sherbrooke Hospital after suffering serious injuries while snowmobile racing on Saturday.
Villeneuve, 59, sustained several fractures and reportedly has a punctured lung. He was injured during a qualifying round at the Valcourt ski-doo Grand Prix.
I've been driving skidoos here all winter for the past twenty years. I hate the things, but there's no other way to get around as our roads are not plowed. High performance, fast snowmobile manufacturers like Polaris, Yamaha, Arctic Cat and Bombardier advertise heavily in winter publications and try to sell their over-priced machines where they are not needed. Thankfully, here on the coast, folks usually have more common sense and stick to utility machines.
I still miss Lefauve.
I miss him, and also M. Spector.
