watching here, ashton a little looser, but still overly scripted, exact same message.
singh sounds pretty good, actually, brings up pharmacare again, stumbles at the end and mentions business experience

mulcair sounds good as usual, but reading too much. cullen is near-inspiring, though shouldn't have said "audacious" or "a more perfect and beautiful union", that's no good.

topp trying to revive his campaign with a great performance, speaking directly to the ndp youth, i like it. mulcair answers with a much more long term solution, not necessarily the best strategy, but definitely good to hear.
singh is smart, yaffe is obstructive and annoying.

Interesting contrast between Mulcair's and Topp's response - Topp being specific about support for arts community whereas Mucair took the national approach. Although topp answered the question Mulcair's response was prime ministerial.

I really enjoy Nathan Cullen's responses a lot. They cut through the jargon, which for me is far more exciting than platitudes. Sometimes I think he has the greatest potential to excite a broad base of young people.

I'm disappointed that the majority of the debate will be in English, considering that opportunities for young people is an issue that affects francophone communities as well. It's an insult to francophone communities we need to vote NDP for forming a national government.
I'm also disappointed that with the exception of Ashton, none of the candidates in their opening statements made specific reference to the issues young people face. And people wonder why young people are cynical about politics.

Cullen is giving me a little confidence that he can prevent the co-operation strategy from backfiring. Singh is right that cooperation with the Liberals might cost us a lot of support for the anti-Liberal vote. But Cullen pointed out: voters like cooperation in principle. Voters hate partisanship. He's selling the strategy less as a marriage to the Liberals, and more just having a positive and reasonable attitude to getting things done.
