Ypsilanti Vampire May Day - by Peter Linebaugh

'Hooray! Hooray! The First of May! Outdoor F***ing begins today!'

"We must have a maypole. We must preserve public assets. We must fill the streets so that we may actually see we are the 99 percent. We must welcome fellow creatures who are undocumented. We must drive a stake through the heart of the monstrosity of white supremacy.

We must avoid dictatorship even as it masquerades under pseudonym. We must envisage for our children a future without prison. We must de-bamboozle what is offered to them in school. We must turn brownfields green.

We must reclaim our commons and create new ones. None can accomplish this alone. Let us vouchsafe to ourselves that together in common we can, if we only

"This May Day, do what you can for Albert Parsons, for those you love, and for those who will come after us. Do not work. Do not be loyal. Do not be silent. Be the change you want to see in the wordl."

Welcome to the Asylum - by Chris Hedges

http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/welcome_to_the_asylum_20120430/

"The final chapter of this sad experiment in human history will see us sacrificed as those on the outer reaches of empire was sacrificed. There is a kind of justice to this We profited as a nation from this demented vision, we remained positive and silent when we should have denounced the crimes committed in our name, and now that the game is up we all go down together."

Occupy movement takes over parts of London Stock Exchange

Around 50 activists have occupied parts of the London Stock Exchange and Paternoster square as part of May Day protests in London.

Members of the Occupy movement and Anonymous – better known for its online hacking activities – have also erected a number of tents inside the square which is privately owned and the subject of a previous court injunction banning occupation protests.

The central monument in the square was turned into a Maypole and a tent was foisted on top of it. Also hung fromthe LSE entrance was banner reading: "A line of tents guards our futures."....

Hundreds protest outside Harper’s office as May Day march continues

Public-sector workers sang their souls out for a little respect Tuesday as hundreds marched on Prime Minister Stephen Harper's office in downtown Ottawa in protest of budget cuts.

The protests were part of International Workers Day and in Ottawa, they took a more modern approach to celebrating the labour movement than in years past.

Gone were the traditional protest songs and in their place, hip hop, slam poetry and a little Aretha Franklin....

a million can march in spain and it doesnt seem to change anything, it makes me think when spain has porportional representation as their electoral system and the citizens seem to have alot of reasons to be mad at the government but are still unable to change their destiny, why would some demonstration in Toronto persuade harper to change anything. :shrugs:

From Peaceful Protest to Police Brutality: What Really Happened at the Montreal May Day Protest - by Andrew Gavin Marshall

"On May 1, 2012, thousands of students and other protesters took to the streets for the Anti-Capitalist rally in downtown Montreal. I attended the protest with a couple friends, and having read the 'news' emanating from the 'stenographers of power' (the mainstream media), it is important to set the record straight about what happened here in Montreal..."

It was by all accounts a successful May Day March in Toronto. Over a thousand particpated. But today's Marijuana March had an estimated turnout of 15,000 people show up to legalize it. Obviously the issue draws in ways that others don't.
