Bic introduces pens "for girls"

Yes, Bic has introduced a new line of "For Her" pens. The customer reviews on Amazon are priceless.

"Someone has answered my gentle prayers and FINALLY designed a pen that I can use all month long! I use it when I'm swimming, riding a horse, walking on the beach and doing yoga. It's comfortable, leak-proof, non-slip and it makes me feel so feminine and pretty! Since I've begun using these pens, men have found me more attractive and approchable. It has given me soft skin and manageable hair and it has really given me the self-esteem I needed to start a book club and flirt with the bag-boy at my local market. My drawings of kittens and ponies have improved, and now that I'm writing my last name hyphenated with the Robert Pattinson's last name, I really believe he may some day marry me! I'm positively giddy. Those smart men in marketing have come up with a pen that my lady parts can really identify with."

I love BIC Cristal for Her! The delicate shape and pretty pastel colors make it perfect for writing recipe cards, checks to my psychologist (I'm seeing him for a case of the hysterics), and tracking my monthly cycle. Obviously, I don't use it for vulgar endeavors like math or filling out a voter application, but BIC Cristal for Her is a lovely little writing utensil all the same. Ask your husband for some extra pocket money so you can buy one today!"

"Finally! For years I've had to rely on pencils, or at worst, a twig and some drops of my feminine blood to write down recipes (the only thing a lady should be writing ever). I had despaired of ever being able to write down said recipes in a permanent manner, though my men-folk assured me that I "shouldn't worry yer pretty little head". But, AT LAST! Bic, the great liberator, has released a womanly pen that my gentle baby hands can use without fear of unlady-like callouses and bruises. Thank you, Bic!"

Ellen Degeneres on Bic pens "for her".

"We've been using man-pens all these years. Yechhhh!"

The Ellen spot is fabulous!  (I did kind of cringe at her opening to the segment though, where she says she "doesn't see colour".  A bit jarring, but the rest was great!)

Oh, and I love this comment on Amazon - short and sweet:

Quote:
I like how these are skinny, pretty to look at, and don't go whining to H.R. when I squeeze them, but they're still mighty pricey; I really think I should only pay about 72% of what the Bic For Men pens cost.

Lordy, the rofls never end.  The product page on the BIC website describes the pen as "A ball pen essentially for women."  Please tell me that the advertising copy writer who wrote that line was a women's studies major who wrote that as a passive-aggressive form of protest - please!

I guess "The essentialist ball pen for women" would have been too obvious!  Ha!

Odd, I too have been using the wrong gender of pen for too many decades. And a PEN IS mightier than the sword? Or the scabbard?

Way back when, an era the younguns could scarcely fathom, when computers were huge mainframe things that existed in big offices, perhaps universities, a select few secondary schools. Nobody could carry them around.

Darn it.

There's a phallogocentric joke here, for Derrida fans, but I surely won't make it.

And whatever does that say about pocket protectors?
