Terry Tremaine received a 30 day sentence, which may be extended if he refuses to remove his online messages.

Well, hate is pretty much the point of Nazism, non?
A bit of Schadenfreude, quoting a CBC story on this: "At that court proceeding it was learned that Tremaine was living on welfare". I presume Tremaine is aware of the classic Nazi view on "lumpens" and "scroungers"?
Much as I hope this scum rots in hell, this is the same crap that they pulled with GND - issue an injunction (or in this case a tribunal order) which infringes on constitutional rights, then condemn the accused for violating the order.
It is a slightly different version of how they kept Conrad Black in there after he won his appeals, too, no?
Plus there's also the prospect that they can keep tossing him in there indefinitely until he complies.
Yes, I agree, there are a few sides to this story.
As Unionist pointed out, there are other sides of this story - remember Zündel being one of the first arrested under a security certificate? Knowing that nobody but his crew of haters would be out to protest.
I didn't click on any Neo-Nazi sites, but his hate messages seem to be up and running in the US.
Can't he be collared (here, at least) on the basis of hate crimes legislation?

That's exactly the right question in my opinion. If his vile rants meet the definition of hate speech as per the Criminal Code, he should be charged and let him defend himself. Instead, he was charged under the dubious Section 13 of the CHRA, which has been much discussed and denounced here on babble as a dangerous restriction on freedom of speech, without the usual protections as in criminal law. Here's a few threads which I seem to have collected in 2009 - I'm sure there are more since:

I thought Section 13 was supposed to be repealed. The sooner it is gone, the better.
