Agreed, Guantanamo should be closed down and returned to Cuban control.  I've said that MANY times in the past.  And I've also said that everything my country has ever done to Cuba was indefensibly evil. 

I am in solidarity with Cuba...but solidarity does NOT mean unquestioning support.  We should all have learned our lesson on THAT one from those who were in "solidarity" with Uncle Joe back in the day.   The Left is still struggling to recover from that mistake. 

Support, yes.  But not blind support of everything...not support of what isn't necessary.  Cuba has nothing to lose now from trusting its own people to support the state voluntarily.

I wish that Americans would stop telling other people what they should do. The only thing exceptional about the USA is its brutal killing machine that is unheralded in the annuls of history.  Please Ken fix your own fucking country that is terrorizing the world before you worry about other countries problems. Problems that pale in comparison to the most repressive society on the planet.  The largest and most active  military, the most prisoners per capita plus some of the most repressive labour laws and constant harassment of women and gays by well connected Xians.

So telling the americans what to do is ok though?  Its just his opinion krop, just like everyone else here who says what should be done with this or that issue.

Of course telling bullies to stop beating people up is the same as the bully demanding other kids turn over their lunch money. Its all just talk and one should not bring anything like moral equivalency into ones analysis.  At babble we try not to give voice to the oppressors world view because frankly that is the MSM's job.  Sorry if you don't see that American Exceptionlism or Imperialism (whichever term you prefer) is the most repressive and murderous regime on the planet. (I'm just going with statistical evidence on)

Quite frankly the idea that in 2012 someone would refer back to the 1930's to show that we have to be careful about how we view Cuba because of Stalin I found to to be less than respectful to the people of Cuba who have been bullied for over 50 years by the most powerful nation in the planet.  Gee their form is bad in how they oppose repression and deal with the ongoing decade after decade attempt by the USA to force regime change. I'm one of the older posters on this board and Ken is talking about something that happened 15 to 20 years before I was born and claiming it is somehow relevant to Cuba in this millennium. By the way I think Stalin oversaw the second most repressive regime on the planet. Even he couldn't kill and pillage like the good old US of A since it has been in a league of its own for a very long time.

In a thread entitled celebrate 54 years of the Cuban revolution you posted an American's view of how they should not be so repressive.  And I did not say you were the bully only that you live in the bully country and choose to tell others how they should change to fit your world view better.  That is not quite my idea of a celebration Ken.
