Refusing to be a workers' party.
Refusing to be a party of the poor.
Refusing to be a peace party.
Refusing to be a party of conscience.
Refusing to be a party of passion and conviction.
This is the path the NPD/NDP braintrust has stubbornly clung to since 2011, even though the path has led nowhere but down-despite the fact that the path has now led the party, at least at the moment, into third place in the polls behind Le Parti Imaginaire(the Liberals), a party soon to be led by a person who has nothing to offer Canada other than his supposed fashion sense.
Why are the "serious" types in the NDP so committed to a direction they know will lead to failure and defeat?
Why can't they see that the only chance the NDP has to turn things around is to present itself as a party with REAL ideas and convictions, and a party that is CLEARLY different than both of the old parties?
Will reality ever get through to these types...or will they continue to focus on stupid and useless activities such as removing the "s-word" from the party's program?
Do they NOT get it that the voters don't WANT another party of the status quo? That the people who fear change and hate activists will never vote for any party OTHER than the Conservatives or Liberals? That people who still think World War One was right have no non-reactionary views, and that people who hated the Quebec students don't have any either?
Why are the strategic minds still committed to what they know won't ever work?

Why can't they accept that there is no such thing as a voter who defends the social wage but ALSO wants a big war budget, wants the RCMP to be free to act like a modern-day Gestapo. hates unions, and despises social movements and activists?
Why do they not get it that the answer isn't to run a "don't worry...we're safe and you won't notice that we aren't a Liberal or Conservative government" campaign, but instead to run a "the status quo is your enemy-change will be good for you-and activists and the others that the Cons are demonizing are fighting for a better life for all, including YOU" campaign?
Why do they so fear actually trying to make a positive case for a different set of principles, rather than defaulting to the sort of "path of least resistance" politics that not only fail to elect anyone most of the time, but make it impossible for anyone to do anything that matters if they DO happen to somehow get elected?
Canada could be on the brink of a beautiful, transformational moment, but the NDP "war room" seems bound and determined not to let it happen.
It will be a failure if the NDP falls back in the next election. It will be an equal failure if they form government and you can't tell that they did.

You know what rabble needs? Another thread about the NDP. If only someone would put together the perfect rant about how the NDP has become the Liberal party, there would be a mass movement ready to change this country, fresh with ideas from 1848.

Yeah, I agree with this sentiment. We can probably put this bread and it's OP in any of the existing election/NDP/Mulcair threads.
