Pretty much the only remnant of orthodox Social Credit which managed to survive Aberhart(even though I don't think it was an officially Social Credit doctrine, and had already been done in Ontario by the United Farmers).

They've had their share of scandals over the years, most notably with Pocklington in the 80s. Not sure how they would compare with a Big 5 bank in that regard. My understanding is that they've survived this long largely due to their popularity in rural areas, which has made successive governments quite reluctant to get rid of them.

There was some talk a few months back about Redford maybe scrapping the ATB, but as far as I've heard, nothing has come of that. Such a move would almost certainly unite all the other parties in opposing it.
