Everytime one of these Liberal-planted news stories about the demise of the NDP or how Trudeau is the now the new Jack Layton is published, the more convinced I am the Liberals are in deeper trouble than most people realize.

The Orange Wave is quite alive and very well, and will once again exceed experctations in the federal exection expected in 2015, if not before.

The headline (editorial writers) and their (editor appointed?) "expert" Hicks from Carleton U are hack jobs...  Libervatives or Conservabals as David Lewis called them.  The rest of the article is not bad.

This may well put a spike into their (LPC) spokes.

I just want to report that the Liberals have been playing radio advertisement on toronto chinese radio that they intend on hhighlighting the harms of smokomg marijuana, and that legalization will help regulate this harmful product in a more effective manner and that the Harper government on marijuana is self serving. Warning: This is not a professional translation.

There's the Liberal playbook again...  tell your target audience what you think they want to hear, and a different target audience a different message based on what they want to hear ... then do what you want to do.

Hopefully the NDP are running ads in all of the Canada's major ethic radio stations and TV stations.

It's hard to have the same advertising reach given the disparity in our financial base.  Do you think we can increase givings?

NorthReport

Once again we need to listen to what the ethnic communities want. It doesn't cost much money to arrange a meeting and listen to people.

For example, not everyone wants long-tern care residences for their parents and / or grand-parents. A lot of people, particlarly those who were not born in Canada, want to keep their family together at home, and would like for the government to assist them with some home-care support in that way instead. And personally I think it is a much heathier approach than what we have chosen in North America, sending our parents off to live in institutions. They sacrificied much to bring us up, and the least we can do is return the sacrifice when it is our turn.

Yes, eventually the NDP will need $ for advertising, but if you have people already on board with the NDP's policies, it is a lot easier to fund-raise, and many will volunteer time and $ before they are even asked.

Agreed and agreed, NR

NorthReport

But what is the NDP policy on this and where is it posted online?

On HP, a Liberal accuses me of character assination with I assume a straight face, the "Angry Tom", flyer, notwithstanding. They are a bunch of Sociopaths. On top of that, my neighbour who always has a Liberal sign on his lawn, thinks it would be great if everyone was responsbile for funding their own unemployment isurance. He actaully said to me, and these are his EXACT words, "If I work hard all my life and never use unemployment insurance, why shouldn't I be able to get it as a cash pay out when I retire so I can live my life better?". That is what HE SAID. It simply reinforces my conviction that there is absolutely NO difference between the Libs and the Tories. None, nadda, zilch.

House committee scraps NDP bid to reform MP expense regime

Meanwhile, a "supplementary opinion" from the Liberals makes no reference to access to information, which suggests that they concur with the committee majority on that front

Well, time to take a break from Huff Post. I am sick of all the personal, arrogant attacks from Libs. I was thinking I should stay and fight, but I just don't think it's worth it. The Huff Post has become a LPC partisan Echo Chamber. I know that this has been alleged as such on this website, but frankly, the difference is that the FACTS are mostly on the NDP's side in any issue you wish to discuss. That's enough of that place for awhile.

I get the impression that HP threads notwithstanding, the boomers think they're electing PET again. Which is exactly why they chose him. Never mind the fact that the legacy the boomers have of PET is a myth. Its idiotic. I think this is what is the real problem here for the NDP. Its a perfect storm really, and the NDP seems unable to come up, at least for the moment, with a real strategy for countering it.

The best we can do, Art, is this and this and this and this. Other than that, we can continue to talk to our friends, families, neighbours and co-workers about how politics should be done, continue to make our voices heard on dreadful forums like HuffPo and volunteer in our communities.

Will it work? I have no idea, but I don't feel like throwing in the towel just yet. THAT was what Jack Layton was talking about with all the hope and optimism stuff.

Here is an interesting Link from Russ Diabo regarding the real story about the Kelowna Accord. It is the best explanation I have read concerning what it was about and why it should have failed, http://www.scribd.com/doc/1399399.59/Paul-Martin-s-Hypocrisy-The-Truth-About-the-2005-Kelowna-Accord If anyone has more in terms of thoughts on this, that would be welcome. Kelowna is going to come up. I saw Martin talking about it on APTN yesterday. More Liberal mischief. These guys are completely shameless, amd Mr. Dithers doesn't act like a former PM and still wants everyone to agree unanimously that he was the greatest PM and Finance Minister Cnada ever had. I CAN'T STAND the guy!

That, and I have a hunch he's not particularly leftwing(anymore?) to begin with. Being rich and living in the states has had to have some effect on him...

This is about the LPC. Lets get back on track please. If you want to discuss Kiefer Sutherland, why don't you start a thread about him. Why does this happen over and over?

Lets talk about Kelowna Accord, here, an interesting Link from Russ Diabo regarding the real story about the Kelowna Accord. Celebrity candidates are more an American phenomenon. We've already imported so many aspects of our politics from the US, I would hate to see us import that aspect as well.

Barometer personalities - Mulcair, Quebec favorite

At the provincial level, Françoise David ranks first

Françoise David provincial, federal Thomas Mulcair: The two most popular politicians in Quebec are the leaders of the left reveals the barometer politicians Léger-Le Devoir. And it is the NDP leader who won the big palm.

60% of "good opinion" and only 10% of "bad opinion" in Quebec, Thomas Mulcair in fact establishes new records for this biennial ranking - which should be read as a popularity contest and notoriety. At the federal level, it easily outstrips a more polarizing Justin Trudeau (44% good opinion, 32% bad). "The results of Mr. Mulcair are simply spectacular," Judge Sébastien Dallaire, an analyst at Léger.

Trudeau has a valid point about being unscripted. I know I find it refreshing when a politician speaks candidly and openly.

But Trudeau is HIGHLY scripted. He goes out of his way to make as few policy pronouncements as possible, repeating talking points about "growing the middle class". His gaffes are when he accidentally has to talk about an issue that he has no pre-scripted talking points for.

A situation that will be remedied as soon as the Liberal insiders tell him what to think.

Today on Power & Politics Justin said he thinks not attending QP is OK.  Going out and talking to Canadians is a better use of time.  So if all MP's take this same course of action......we could cut down QP to 39% of what it currently stands at.

No it isn't. Iggy never boasted about not showing up for Question Period before that election campaign. I wonder if Conservative or NDP researchers will be able to use that clip against him.

Skinny Dipper

No doubt that Justin Trudeau will campaign against the upcoming closure of Canada Post home deliveries.  However, if he becomes the next PM, I doubt he would support the return of home deliveries.

Considering it was under Paul Martin former Lib leader and PM who appointed privitization queen Moya Greene, one just has to look at who is publicly talking about and defending this latest "break Cnd Post" and who is not.

Moya Greene "was appointed Pres & CEO of Canada Post on May 12, 2005" under former Lib lder Paul Martin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moya_Greene …

Sounds like the Liberals are trying to copy-cat Stephen Harper's approach to the press. Why not, as it sure has workerd for Harper for the past 7 or years, hasn't it?

After Canada's Senate mess, the Canadian governemnt's plan, or rather lack of a plan, to address golobal warming, our disgraceful corruption record, Canada's mainsrtream press mess is right up there in national embarassments.

Poor Lawrence. He obviously has bot the Liberal koo-aid. The Paul Martin-Bob Rae-Justin Trudeau flavour of Liberal kool-aid that is. These clueless Liberal zealots are very quick to forget that Jean Chretien was the only Liberal Prime Minister to lead a majority government in the past, get this, in the past 20 years. My how times flies when you are a wannabee winner.

Liberals visited by the ghosts of Chrétien’s past

The Conservatives got some much-needed good news last week – the RCMP are investigating the Liberals, too. In connection with the sponsorship scandal, the Mounties laid charges against Jacques Corriveau, a Quebec businessman who was friends with Jean Chrétien.

We thought Adscam had been put to bed long ago, but not so. Mr. Corriveau is to appear in court in January on charges of fraud, forgery and laundering proceeds of crime. There could be more revelations about the scandal, which heavily damaged the Liberal Party, plus Chrétien-related questions of the type Prime Minister Stephen Harper has been getting about the Senate expenses scandal: “How could you not have known?”
