The Degrowth movement

I didn't know this was a 'thing'.

"Key to the concept of degrowth is that reducing consumption does not require individual martyring and a decrease in well-being.[2] Rather, 'degrowthists' aim to maximize happiness and well-being through non-consumptive means—sharing work, consuming less, while devoting more time to art, music, family, culture and community." - wikipedia

It is very interesting, and there have been some great conferences  - right here in Montréal, also in Venice - but one of my ecosocialist friends in Italy says he likes everything about the movement - except its name, a hard sell in crisis-wracked Europe.
