Unionist,

The easiest thing in the world is to sit on the sidelines and take shots at the quarterback.

We understand you are bitter about political parties.

What saddens me though is your lack of democratic principles.

It is either your way or the doorway.

You don't like what you hear, and you have a temper tantrum.

You may not like what you hear, but everyone here has a right to express their opinions as long at it stays within the policy guidelines of the website.

You, nor anyone else, has a handle on the truth.

Chill man, and enjoy the day.

Sorry Unionist, but NR is right, your posts always reak of sarcasm and bitterness. It unhealthy and unproductive. Don't get me wrong, its fine to criticize the NDP, but the way you go about it is counter productive. You've already driven one person to stop posting, I won't say who to protect they're privacy.

I believe your a good person unionist, but the constant barrage of bitter sarcasm has me concerned.

Could you please indicate which of my posts you think NR was reacting to? I believe josh also asked, but NR hasn't responded. I had only posted in the last two days in this thread, and that was last night. Is that the post you or he are referring to?

Watch the Liberals and the PCs run for the hills on this one.

Cowards usually run away from discussing issues, courageous people stay and debate.

Lets see the cowards run behind the "TV networks are in charge" nonsense.

Horwath calls for 5 debates as Ontario election campaign gets rolling

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is challenging her opponents to five debates in this provincial election campaign.

“I am calling on you to join me for leaders' debates on real issues facing families,” Horwath said in an open letter Monday to PC Leader Tim Hudak and Liberal Leader Kathleen Wynne. “I’m proposing a total of five debates with at least one focused exclusively on jobs and the economy.”

80% of the debates, not on jobs? The horror!

In the last election both Tim and Andrea both promised to bone-up on their french, so there could be a leaders debate in French for Ontario francophones.

At this point neither can get a sentence across in french. If fact both Tim and Andrea still cannot do a press conference in both french and english, having to have translators step in to answer questions in french.

So there goes one debate, the french language one.

Do francophones have a right to vote in Ontario? What if they own small businesses?

The TFO 'panel ontarien' is probably the closest thing we will get to a French language debate (between Bisson, Meilleur and former PC candidate in Toronto Pamela Taylor).  I'd like an official debate between French language candidates.

Andrea just released her first campaign promise. Boosting the minimum wage to $12.00 an hour....in two years

Winston

THAT would be the sarcasm that was referred to! Wink

...and I suggest not stopping it, because I find it immensely entertaining even when I disagree with your sentiment, as I frequently do.

Thanks, Winston. But which post was NorthReport referring to?

Winston

I'm not entirely sure, but then, there is some veracity to her/his generalization that most of your posts bear a good degree of sarcasm. Laughing

So her first promise is a reaffirmation that it's acceptable to her that workers can work full-time, yet still live below the poverty line.

Yep... I'm still not seeing a reason to vote for her. If this is the best she can do, maybe she had it right yesterday when she told high school students that she wouldn't answer their questions about tuition and post-secondary education because her platform was still a secret.

Unionist,

Your nose is out of joint so just go whining to the mods as is your usual fashion around here.

Maybe you should think about relaxing and enjoying the day!

Statement from NDP Leader Andrea Horwath on the passing of Lynn Williams

TORONTO – “I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Lynn Williams, former International President of the United Steelworkers and a true giant of the Canadian Labour movement. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and loved ones.”

“Workers and New Democrats across the country owe a debt of gratitude to Lynn. Active in the labour movement from a young age, Lynn worked tirelessly to improve the lives of workers around the globe, and was internationally known for his work. Being involved with the labour movement in Hamilton, I couldn’t help but feel influenced by Lynn’s legacy.”

“I thank Mr. Williams for his years of service and dedication to progressive values. New Democrats everywhere are proud to honour his legacy everyday as we pursue our shared goals and values.”

Pathetic.

That is just about the dumbest  political advice I have ever heard and just falls into  Unifor's and/or Liberal's trap - hint, hint! Laughing

Come on josh, your turn to respond now, eh!  Laughing

You willl have to do better that that.

She may not win the election, but with both of you as her campaign managers she would be sure to lose.

I gather you have not listened to Wynne's attempt at French.

Maybe, just maybe Pierre Trudeau was correct when he wanted Canadian to become bilingual, and what did he say about those opposed to the idea: Les mangers de hot dog or something to that effect. I don't know why he used that analogy. Occasionally I enjoy a good chien chaud.   Laughing

Kathleen Wynne's Diversity Problem

Wynne will have to address her lack of fluency in the preferred official language of 550,000 Ontarians. While the Toronto-centric Premier-elect has had little French fraternisation over her career, it is a pivotal issue in many ridings, namely in Eastern and Northern Ontario, where concentrations of Franco-Ontarians constitute a powerful swing vote. While both opposition leaders also struggle with la langue de Molière, it would serve the Premier-elect to rise above the lowest common linguistic denominator. Effective communication with the widest possible range of voters is a key strategy to win.

On the subject of cultural heritage, it was revealed by confused Liberal party members that Wynne's campaign sent letters in foreign languages to would-be supporters. In a gauche effort to connect with the ethnic vote, the Wynne campaign combed through membership lists and divvied them up based on perceived cultural origin.

For some communities all too familiar with racial profiling, this ill-considered tactic re-opened fresh wounds. The cities of WindsorSault Ste. MarieOttawaKingston andToronto have all suffered from embarrassing public mishaps regarding racial profiling from law enforcement bodies entrusted to serve and protect all citizens.

Andrea may be surprising us again.

What the right-wing press says is lack of preparedness may actually be that she could care less about providing transportation. I mean, can't the mainstream press figure out how to get to Brampton on their own? Laughing

That's odd. NorthReport, in his personal attack, did he?

So which post do you think NorthReport was referring to?

I didn't offer her advice in my quote, so it's not clear what you're referring to. Unless you're talking about the advice that she shouldn't answer questions about her platform, which I concede looks pretty foolish.

Probably so. But then, I have no interest in getting her elected.

Ugh. Just read far too much of this thread than is healthy. It's getting nasty and I'm asking babblers to stop. That means stop with the aggressive language and personal attacks based on petty partisan bickering, real or perceived. Suspensions are next. It will be a long campaign and I don't have the time to deal with this. Get on with it and discuss the issues, not the person. FFS.

EDIT: Actually, I am taking DaveW's characteristic good advice and closing this thread. Please continue in the general election thread here.
