Has there been any indication amongst the sitting M.P.P.s of any who won't be re-offering?
Any news on whether Giambrone will be running?
Hopefully not.
If he does, make it be in Toronto...NOT Scarborough.
Paul Ferreira has indeed confirmed that he will be seeking the NDP nomination in York-South Weston. I really hope he wins and takes back the seat for the NDP
The 35-year-old self-employed graphic designer was chosen at the best-attended nomination meeting the NDP has had since the 1980s, said former NDP MPP Paul Wessenger, who chaired last night's meeting as Bradbury — the provincial riding president — could not. “I was just amazed. There’s a lot of enthusiasm,” he said, adding he expected 50 people to show up, but more than 100 attended.
The openly gay man, who won a contested nomination, says he is Barrie's first openly gay candidate. "I believe in strong families of all kinds. What about Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale? I'm surprised I haven't had a call about the campaign.
I'm surprised that this sort of information is not available on the Ontario NDP website?
Agreed. It's odd they don't have a list of candidates up yet on the site.
{ADFW}Nominating May 14.
Thanks, I shall follow with interest. Sadly, it appears Ted McMeekin will be running again for the Fiberals. The word on the street before the last election was that this would be his last term as he and his wife (a family physician in Carlisle) had bought a retirement home in Arizona or some such place. However he is apparently back for another kick at the can, and unfortunately for the NDP, he draws a lot of support from disillusioned PC voters who are the vast majority here. He took rock-solid PC polls in the last election. His local name recognition etc. will be hard to beat. However the Cons are divided amongst themselves about internal issues around the last campaign (I forget what those were); how much that still factors in is anyone's guess.
I'm surprised that this sort of information is not available on the Ontario NDP website?
I'm not. They're still offering a policy book download that precedes Jack Layton's demise. Do they need some donations, or just a wakeup call?
Oshawa: Jennifer French won (contested?) nomination last night. Teacher at Glen Street PS in Oshawa, with Durham District School Board since 1998, member of ETFO Collective Bargaining Committee, Durham Region Labour Council delegate to last OFL convention. "Educator ~ ETFO ~ NDP ~ Labour Enthusiast ~ Student ~ Optimist ~ Organic Gardener" says her twitter account.
Yet more organized labour folks jumping on the Liberal Party bandwagon... oh wait...

Kitchener--Conestoga: James Villeneuve, president of the Sheet Metal Workers' Local 562, won contested nomination last night, defeating 2011 candidate.
Scarborough Centre: Carol Baker, Legal assistant with union-side labour law firm, currently seconded to the Ontario Federation of Labour as a coordinator for their Workers' Rights Campaign, Ontario Common Front, and Peoples Social Forum. The Ontario Common Front is a labour-community coalition of over 90 organizations, including the OFL.

Teacher at Glen Street PS in Oshawa, with Durham District School Board since 1998, member of ETFO Collective Bargaining Committee, Durham Region Labour Council delegate to last OFL convention. "Educator ~ ETFO ~ NDP ~ Labour Enthusiast ~ Student ~ Optimist ~ Organic Gardener" says her twitter account.

She has done numerous stage shows and fashion shows for charity, and served as an ambassador for a number of charities. She had filed to run for Peel Regional council from Brampton wards 9 & 10, but withdrew after being nominated for the NDP.
Parry Sound--Muskoka: Clyde Mobbley, nominated Saturday.
What about Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale? I'm surprised I haven't had a call about the campaign.
Nominating May 14.
I asked in an earlier post, but no one answered my question, if all of the sitting NDP M.P.P.s are re-offering.
From the lists of candidates I've seen so far, am I safe in assuming that all of them are?

Yes, and the media have noticed: the NDP is the only party where all sitting MPPs are standing again.
Eight ridings to go: Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Westdale tonight, and seven I can't track: Niagara West—Glanbrook, Wellington—Halton Hills, Mississauga South, St. Paul's, Scarborough—Agincourt, Newmarket—Aurora, and Durham.
Yes, and the media have noticed: the NDP is the only party where all sitting MPPs are standing again.
If all sitting MPPs are standing, does that mean they're running?
Just trying to picture that.
Thanks David & Wilf,
Another small but significant sign things are going Andrea's way. She obviously is an effective leader and haveing all her MLAs running again shows that.

In fact, they're racing to the finish line. As the saying goes, they'll win sitting down.
In Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale, Alex Johnstone wins the nomination. A Hamilton public school trustee, she joins her mother Jan Johnstone, Huron-Bruce candidate, and also a public school trustee, in the second mother-daughter candidate team. Kitchener-Waterloo MPP Catherine Fyfe and her mother, Peterborough candidate Sheila Wood, are the other mother-daughter team.
Thanks for this Wilf.
Jan Johnstone, Huron-Bruce candidate
I wonder if that's our janfromthebruce.
Jan Johnstone, Huron-Bruce candidateI wonder if that's our janfromthebruce.
Yep.
Excellent!
For the time being I am residing in York Centre.
I see John Fagan was nominated. First post on his social media: "It's time to elect a government that delivers on its promises, take a look at auto insurance!"
Even if it weren't for the comma splice, he's already lost my attention.
Hey, at least you have a candidate.
I asked in an earlier post, but no one answered my question, if all of the sitting NDP M.P.P.s are re-offering.

Niagara West-Glanbrook nominated Thursday night. (But I don't know who.)
Woot, go Jan, go! Here is to hoping that Huron Bruce is smart enough to know what an assist it has and votes her in!
What's her shot at winning Huron Bruce?
Elizabeth Long is the NDP candidate in the Scarborough-Agincourt federal by-election, which will be held on June 30th. I doubt that she sought the provincial NDP nomination in the same riding.
Scarborough--Agincourt: Alex Wilson, Pastor at St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church, defeated Elizabeth Long? (Corrected: incorrect assumption.) Wilson was defeated for Scarborough Southwest nomination.
Mississauga South: Boris Rosolak, a manager with the City of Toronto and Seaton House; nominated Monday night.
“In 2007, when I first won, there was no Twitter. This time, my campaign hashtag is #unfinished business,” says New Democrat Paul Ferreira, who hopes to defeat Liberal incumbent Laura Albanese in York South-Weston.
“I tell folks it’s a best of five and we’re down two games to one,” jokes the 41-year-old avid sports fan.
Go Paul Ferreira!
Janfrombruce's daughter is running too!
Awesome, I have a great respect for Jan and her insights on babble and I hope both Jan and her daughter win!
Just watched some of an episode of the opinionators on youtube. First off great show, I wish more political shows had this much quality. Secony Alex, Jan's daughter, kicked ass and I honestly believe she can win the riding she's running in.

Good article here about them: Mother daughter duo running for NDP in provincial election.

Didn't a certain ONDP leader promise public auto insurance in the 1990 election? Whatever happened to that? If only that guy won...
Durham: Derek Spence (a few miles west of me) is "a committed labour advocate, a lifelong resident of Durham Region and since 2005, he has lived on a farm in Newtonville. He has been a member of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture for 10 years and raises cattle, pigs as well as grows various field crops. Derek has worked as a custodian at the Unifor Hall for 12 years.
Derek is an avid football and hockey enthusiast. He has played hockey throughout Durham Region all of his life and has participated in local fundraising initiatives, including the United Way of Durham Region’s Score 4 United Way hockey tournament. Derek is a proud father of a beautiful 5-year-old daughter who also shares his love for hockey, playing on a team in the Orono Athletic Association."
Nominated May 22 or earlier.
Niagara West-Glanbrook: Brian McCormack.
St. Paul's: Luke Savage.
Wellington-Halton Hills: Georgetown law student Michael Carlucci was nominated Wednesday evening.
Newmarket--Aurora: Angus Duff, Aurora, is a Business Professor at Trent University’s Oshawa campus who spent 13 years as a Human Resources Manager.
Syd Ryan has tweeted his support for Jennifer French, NDP candidate for Oshawa.
