Does anyone else get the occasional feeling that the upper crust of Québec society is made up of about 40-50 people who just rotate among all the top jobs in a grand game of musical chairs where nobody ever loses a seat? Like, maybe next year Charest will be prime minister, Marois will be at Heenan Blaikie, and Chrétien will take over Power Corp.

Yeah, and it's always kind of a challenge to remember which member of the Johnson clan led which party and when, and which of them also managed to be premier.
That said, the career trajectory of Rene Levesque is pretty distinct and discrete. He doesn't really have anything after his name besides PQ Leader and Premier.
Zut alors! Today I noticed they were having an election in Ontario. A whitewash of LePen in today's Journal needs corrective action, and maybe Le Seigneur Mulroney will take out the pandering trash. Yeah, I thought about that adterwards.
But my basic observation still stands, he went from Liberal cabinet minister to PQ leader to premier, all in clear succession. He didn't take any other jobs(like, say, for example, a jump into federal politics) that would muddy up my recollection of his career.
Not that there's anything wrong with the way, say, Lucien Bouchard played out his career. Just harder for me to keep track of.

Well. see, there you go. I knew Daniel Sr. had been premier, and for some reason I remembered that Pierre-Marc had succeeded Levesque, but I wasn't sure if Daniel Johnson had ever become premier. I dunno. Maybe it's the era that trips me up. The whole post-Bourassa 90s are kind of a blur to me.
So, if Brian is running Quebecor now...will he stand for the PQ in the next election?

Remember that bérets were first Basque (on any side of the border, like Mohawks). More important, they are extremely practical in chilly rain. I have at least eight bérets, from an angora one (bought when I didn't know how cruel angora fur harvesting was) to a couple of very nice cotton ones from Parkhurst, a Toronto company with orthodox Jewish roots. They define cycle chic.
And bicycles define everything. Remember, nowadays there are electric-assist (NOT fully motorized!) bicycles for seniors, the slightly disabled and high hills...
