No wonder Harper doesn't want to talk with Wynne. Harper is probably worried that he will be tarred with the same financial mismanagement brush.
It doesn't matter whether or not it is right-wing Liberals or right-wing Conservatives, they are both the same. They suck the government coffers dry leaving nothing left but massive debt for the people.

If "Liberals' mismanagement of Ontario is a disaster", then, given the provincial election result and the by-election, I'd have to say Ontarions love disasters. As a New Democrat, I think we need to reflect on why voters in Ontario continue to support Wynne and her crew. The bribery allegations obviously were not enough to undercut that support, we must find another way.
Perhaps we're giving the Liberals "too much oxygen" by focusing the conversation on them. As they say, any publicity is good publicity, as long as your name is spelled correctly. Instead, we may do well to find a better way to distinguish ourselves and give voters a reason to vote for us, rather than against the Libs (or the Conservatives, for that matter). Not a new idea, I know, but one worth reconsidering.
One argument is that the current success of the Liberals is the result of their (unwarranted) characterization as a "progressive" party. Their history in government, at both the provincial and federal level, strongly suggests otherwise. More work needs to be done to dispell that myth by putting forward truly progressive and innovative policies. It can't hurt.

But the ensuing chase for information and alleged cover-up is what turned a seat-saving election promise into a full-blown scandal: opposition parties used the minority government elected in 2011 to request information on the cancellation costs. When then-energy minister Chris Bentley failed to respond in time, they used the committee process to file a contempt complaint against him. After the Speaker ruled there was a prima facie case against Bentley (meaning on the face of it, or the basic facts) the justice committee started looking into the issue in September 2012. These are the origins of Thursday’s unimpressive report.
When things looked bad for Bentley and facing heat from caucus and nine long years in power, McGuinty prorogued and resigned in October 2012, opening up the leadership race that would see Kathleen Wynne sworn in as premier in February 2013. Prorogation also ended the motion of contempt against Bentley.

2. Andrea got stabbed in the back by the 34, and then got her character assassinated by the Star in the most horrifying smear that an MSM newspaper has ever done.

Everyone knew the Liberals had privatization on the agenda - but Andrea refused to state: "Sell off whatever you like - but BUYERS BEWARE - within 100 days of being elected, an NDP government will either buy it back at a price that is acceptable to Ontarians, or re-nationalize it with fair compensation."

I thought her declaration against privatisation ("you can't heat the house by burning the furniture") was pretty clear. And now we see that the Libs are selling a large part of Hydro One, so it's clear that the NDP were correct in opposing that privatization bomb of a budget.
In fairness, I will say that I'm happy about Wynne's proposed changes to sex-ed (something McGuinty cowardly shied away from). That said, if teachers largely go on strike due to cutbacks, it really won't make a difference.

Yeah, the difference between selling everything to give that money away to the corporate sector in P3 infrastructure projects, and not selling everything is "microscopic".
Maybe so, if you dismiss its relevance at every single turn, and ruthlessly attack those who attempt to raise the issue, like Warren Thomas, as stooges for the right, and argue pedantically about how the "aesthetics" of using the phrase "makes sense" in a campaign slogan is fundamentally "right wing", because Mike Harris uttered the phrase "common sense" in the 90s, instead of talking about the foundation of the Liberal campaign platform.

Kathleen Wynne's failure of nerve
There’s a battle on over government’s role and the premier, contrary to how she ran, is aiding the anti side.
Tony Judt, the late historian, wrote brilliantly on this. He loved the great train stations. He felt they not only served and welcomed travellers but made a statement about the need for a strong public role in restraining the ravages of early capitalism’s robber barons; and still do, in our time of raging inequality and the 1 per cent. They represent something.
Hydro is a symbol in this sense peculiar to Ontario, just as the CBC is to Canada. (Institutions have always been central to our nationhood since we lack other binders like a unique language or cuisine.) The Tory premier who created Hydro in 1906 said, “The water power of Niagara should be as free as the air.” Like other conservatives such as Teddy Roosevelt, he saw the need for the state to counterbalance raw business impulses. Ontario Hydro and the image of Niagara Falls embedded that necessity in the public mind.
This is what Wynne seems not to realize about her choice to rob Peter to pay Paul. There’s a battle on over government’s role and she’s aiding the anti side since she could’ve easily paid for transit with raised taxes. A restoration of the 2 per cent of GST that Harper killed would yield more each year than her one-time sale of Hydro One, and still leave its yearly revenues. So it’s a failure of (her) nerve if we assume she has pro-government principles, as she claims. You can sense this abdication in her unpersuasive language in New York recently. “So I actually think,” she said feebly, “the oversight will be there.”
She’s covered herself by getting former civil servants and bankers, Ed Clark and Don Drummond, to “advise” her. Both came of age on deficit hysteria and program-slashing. No disrespect and I’m not saying it’s just garbage in, garbage out. But you get what you pay for. Drummond in, Drummond out.
There will always be a state and a state role, at least prior to the arrival of the messiah, who I assume is an anarchist and will let the members of society self-regulate. So the question in the interim is simply: what role will the state play and whose interests will it serve: the few, or everybody?
Hydro was a Tory project at a time when public made such sense that even Tories did it routinely. Has that time come again? I think so — when even people in crazy sectors like hedge funds can see something must be done or this society will go right off (pardon the expression) the rails. One sign of this crisis is terror about raising taxes — even from a leader who ran on it, to the left of the NDP, and won. Now the NDP has Alberta and about 70 per cent polled nationally take a leftish position. There’s also the matter of the young, who are highly social (as in media) and may be more amenable to public solutions in areas like transit.
Kathleen Wynne isn’t from the business world and isn’t beholden to them. What has got into her — or drained away?

The government is also planning to switch the fixed date of the provincial election from the fall to the spring and to "strengthen the rules" surrounding election campaign advertising by third-party special-interest groups such as unions.
I guess Wynne figures that the unions that foolishly helped her in the last campaign have finally come to their senses and likely would not support her next time around. So, she's now gonna neuter the Working Families Coalition's ability to advertise.
