Call to action against new Toronto-based neo-Nazi political party

Comrades:

A Toronto-based neo-Nazi party launched a few weeks ago under the innocuous-sounding name of "The New Constitution Party of Canada".  My comrades have reported stickers popping up all over the city, and men dressed all in black with red & white armbands putting them up.  The leader of the party is "Dr. James Sears" aka notorious seduction guru "Dimitri The Lover".  Here is a link to a Facebook group created to fight this party and their associated newspaper "Your Ward News", which is homophobic, racist, and anti-Semitic.  The Facebook group contains photos of the stickers being distributed throughout the city ...

https://www.facebook.com/yourwardnewswatch

"Your Ward News" is NOT a community newspaper, but rather a hate rag.  It goes to 20,000 homes each month in Ward 31 and Ward 32.  The entire back page is an ad for The New Constitution Party, so the two are obviiously related.

Now, the part that make this group dangerous:  The link to the political party is http://NCparty.ca.  When you look at the site, it seems not too bad.  They call themselves "Christian Libertarian".  OK, the religious angle is a bit odd, but no red flags so far.  Then when you dig deeper, the party is not what it seems.  Under the "NCP LEADER" tab, there is a slew of borderline anti-Semitic hate speech (not enough for the legal threshold, but a whiff of it).  Under the "FRATERNITIES" tab, there is a call to violent action (one again, just a whiff of "Hitler Youth").  Their platform is filled with racism, homophobia, Israel bashing and anti-Semitism.  But the worst part ... tilt your computer screen away from you and view the white background from the bottom looking upwards, and you see a subliminal waterwark of swastikas!

Am I being paranoid here?  If not, then we must spread the word that such racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic groups will not be tolerated in Canada, let alone the GTA!

Mr. Magoo

FWIW, it's not even really necessary to tilt your monitor to see the swastika.  It's got an inexplicable dot in the crook of each of the four arms of it, and it looks like it was drawn with a wet brush, but it's not some kind of optical illusion, or artifact of negative space.  It's pretty obvious.

It depends on what browser you're using.  I didn't notice the swastikas at all at first.  It was after 2-3 hours of perusing the site that I finally caught of glimpse of them by sheer chance because I tilted my screen to clean it.  Nonetheless, the New Constitution Party has alot of explaining to do regarding that watermark.

Mr. Magoo

Let's deny them some hits.  Here's the image, for anyone who's curious:

Agreed.  I tried to upload the image of the sticker they've been distributing, but couldn't figure out how.  Also, I feel that the content in the "NCP LEADER" tab is very relevant to our discussion.

1.  right-click on it and choose "Save Image.." or similar, to save it to your desktop

2.  upload it to tinypic.com (in case the site changes it, deletes it or moves it)

3.  tinypic will give you the messageboard/BB code for the image -- just enter it directly in your post here

New Constitution Party Of Canada sticker

Here is the sticker appearing all over the GTA.  Need I say more?

6079_Smith_W

What a bizarre group. Their platform includes the right to completely disappear from society, and a guaranteed annual income.

Mr. Magoo

They aren't actually a party, as far as Elections Canada is concerned.  I'm guessing that contributions won't be tax deductable, and anyone who quits their job to put all of their energy into being a candidate will end up a laughingstock.

Wrath of -redacted- Wrath of -redacted-'s picture

You're right Mr. Magoo, but they could gain traction.  James Sears has a TV Show on Star Ray TV UHF Channel 15 every Friday night from 10pm to midnight, which likely has an audience in the tens of thousands.  My group has been monitoring the broadcast for any signs of hate speech.  Sears has been VERY subtle.  He seems to be a master at being offensive without crossing the line.  For example, the show has a mascot which is a German Shepherd.  During one of the broadcasts, Sears mentioned Israel and the dog pounced on a guest.  He laughed and claimed that the "German" dog reacted to the mention of the word "Israel".  He makes sexist comments too.  But once again, nothing yet has been anywhere near to being considered "hate speech".  I think he likely has a mental illness with delusions of grandeur.  Then again, so did Adolf Hitler, which is why he was ignored by the mainstream German media ... until it was too late.

Is that an inukshuk silhouetted against the wartime Japanese rising sun banner? Weird.

Mr. Magoo

That's a pretty poor inukshuk, if it is.  A cross, maybe, with a sack of laundry at the bottom?  Or an inukshuk that just became Bishop?

Let's not rule out a hoax just yet.

It's pretty obvious from the party's platform that they are trying to create a uniquely Canadian form of National Socialism where all races unite in the fight against "the parasite".  A swastika would be too obvious, so they picked the symbol of Japanese National Socialism combined with Canadian Aboriginalism.  Also please note that an inukshuk can have either one or two legs, the latter much more common.  Theirs has one leg, making it look like a crucifix.  Furthermore, on their web site they don't name the parasite directly, but from their platform and from the leader's bio, the parasite appears to be what they refer to as "ZioMarxism" (Zionist Marxism), which they blame for such things as immigration, Canada's involvement in wars, Canada's support of Israel, etc.  In other words, the party promotes a soft form of anti-Semitism.

swallow swallow's picture

Never rule out a hoax, no.

It's as good an inukshuk as most of the sad efforts on Toronto lawns. Or indeed, the flag of Nunavut.

Anyway, the cross-with-laundry party appears to have some Warcrafters picking names for its fraternities. No sororities, natch.

Since as far as I know, Star Ray TV isn't carried on cable and is only carried on free to air TV in the east end of Toronto from a flea powered transmitter at Main & Gerrard, I would suggest that his audience is in the tens.

For comparison of right-wing trash, Sun TV couldn't get its audience above about 8,000 and 40% of Canadians did have access to it on cable TV.

According to the web site, you can catch Star Ray's signal West to Yonge street and East to Kennedy road with an indoor antenna.  One of my friends gets it at an aparment at Yonge and Eglinton.  That's a massive area of high density housing.  Add outdoor antennas, and the signal reaches surrounding towns.  Sears' program is so insane, I have to admit that it's entertaining.  Whoever comes up with the programming schedule is picking very amusing guests.  Sears had an Anglican Archbisop who is also an Elvis Impersonator on the show a couple of week ago.  You don't think this sort of nuttiness has an audience?  He's reaching out to the lunatic fringe!

I doubt it's a hoax.  Their site and their platorm are both too elaborate.  He has teams of men that are distributing propaganda.  The stickers are of a very high quality plastic (not paper).  They cost serious money.  Sears keeps promoting the party on his TV show (not the other way around).  And, the party has both a physical address at 163 Main Street (confirmed) and phone number (also confirmed).

I'm NOT being facetious here when I say that if any babbler could bring a bit of reality to the discussion on the basis of transmission power, it would be RR.

LOL!  Rahim, assuming Magoo's comment is valid and you are in the industry, please answer a question:  how do you tell the transmission power of a TV station?   Can we look it up somewhere?  Also, supposedly Star Ray TV is on some Eurasian satellite and according to Sears his show is popular in ... ready for this ... The Phillipines!  WTF is that all about?  How does a station like this get on a satellite?  We did research on Star Ray and they have a pretty notorious reputation with the CRTC.  Sears and Star Ray are not the type of Canadian culture I wish to export.

Perhaps the Filipinos are laughing at those silly white people.

Rokossovsky

It is this freak: Dimitri the Lover.

He is possibly personally dangerous, definitely a stalker, but unlikely to be able to organize any kind of political movement. He might go off, one of these days though.

Rokossovsky

More here. I don't know why he isn't in jail or something. But there you go.

Amongst the weird platform points are some signs of surprising clarity.  Obviously James Sears didn't write the platform himself.

Much ado about nothing. It's like worrying about the Rhino Party. No traction to build on.

6079_Smith_W

Though any piece of paper stuck to a wall that talks about people as parasites isn't nothing, because some people take it seriously, even if they don't support the party. My favourite weapon against that stuff is a thick sharpie.

(edit)

And looking at that poster again, what are the women supposed to be doing, making tea in the kitchen and knitting socks for the front?

The Rhino Party was never this aggressive in their marketing.  The Rhino leader did not have his own TV show.

The NCP leader is "Dimitri The Lover".  Once this misogynistic sociopath gains traction, just watch how much free media he gets.  They eat this stuff up.  Even I have to admit that I have some morbid curiosity regarding how the public reacts to his message.  My fear is that people will consider him the "comedy candidate" and vote for him out of amusement, not realizing he's a real-life National Socialist that is organizing brownshirts right in the heart of the GTA.  And in Ward 32 no less!

6079_Smith_W wrote:

Yes, I didn't even touch upon their sexism because I didn't want to be caught crying out "And why can't a woman be a brownshirt too?"  Working with these Nazis is not a civil right any sane woman should be fighting for.

Mr. Magoo

Gains traction?

Didn't he run for City Councillor in Ward 32 and enjoy a mere 3% of the vote?

I really don't think he's going to suddenly "gain traction" as a federal candidate, and then start rolling out the New Gestapo on us.  He simply lacks the charm of Hitler, and the good looks of Mussolini.

He seems to exude sufficient charm when schmoozing guests on his show or a debate audience.  But I agree that he is no Mussolini in the looks department, lol!!!

Sears has a TV show that maybe ten people are watching...perhaps 11 the day I stopped on the channel and watched for a few minutes.

Star Ray TV's signal barely travels a few kilometers from Main & Gerrard.    If you live on the upper floors of a high rise apartment building you might be able to pick up the signal a little further away but not much.

They stream video online, so it's possible that someone there watched for a few minutes and sent in an e-mail message saying that they were watching.    That's probably the extent of Sears' Filipino audience.

The station's owner Jan Pachul has been trying to get a community TV license for years, but has been blocked by the CRTC at every turn and so has operated outside the law most of the time.

Also it would be very wrong to assume that Sears' show is the only thing that happens on Star Ray TV.    When I can pick it up and I happen to be home on Saturday nights, I really rather enjoy watching the old TTC history videos.

I also recall watching a rather lengthy documentary on OCAP...from the left side of the political spectrum.    I also saw a Ward 32 city council all candidates debate...one where nasty former councillor Sandra Bussin snatched the microphone out of the hands of incumbent councillor "3M" (Mary Margaret McMahon).

Then there are the late night...okay...what do you call a movie that isn't good enough to be called a B movie?    They're so bad that they're great comic relief.

So Star Ray TV is really a bit of a free-for-all...a genuine community station in all of its wackiness.

If one is looking for fascists that have genuine power to make the lives of millions of people miserable, I'm much more worried about our current federal government than James Sears.   You can just Duckduckgo "anti-terror Bill C-51".

Thanks for the insight into Star Ray.  My friend at Yonge and Eglinton DOES pick up the channel by ANTENNA at his apartment, so you might be a bit off on your range.  Nonetheless, on one of the shows Sears mentioned that the station is negotiating with a North American satellite provider with 26 million subscribers, 1 million of them in Canada.  Is that even possible?  How does a small community station get on a satellite?

A Trudeau win just exchanges a harsh form of fascism for a softer one.

We should keep an eye on them but not bring them more attention through protests or letter writing which could backfire. We can't prevent them from existing if they don't break a law.
