Justin Trudeau continuing proud Liberal tradition of betraying Indigenous peoples

In May 2016, both Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould and INAC Minister Carolyn Bennett were dispatched to the United Nation in New York to announce Canada was removing it's "objector status" from UNDRIP and were adopting it "without qualification" -- a bald-faced lie, because they did qualify it: they stated Canada was adopting UNDRIP "in accordance with Canada's constitution."

The Trudeau government is attempting to take the international minimum standards of Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples' contained in the Articles of UNDRIP and interpret them through a Canadian constitutional framework, which continues to be used to dispossess, impoverish and oppress Indigenous peoples. Canada's founding constitution, the British North America Act of 1867, helped the fathers of colonialism immorally and illegally take the lands, territories and resources of Indigenous peoples, largely without compensation.......

..this seems ass backward to me.......Canada´s constitution per se does no such thing.....read the recent decision by the Supreme Court of Canada re the Tsilhqotin...it is that no one in Canada certainly least of all the corporate presstitutes, are paying attention......

But I do agree totally, the Trudeau liberals have betrayed their promises here, but also everywhere, systematically!

Our constitution is quite clear on this! it is a violation of our democratic rights. Either they reverse course or resign!
But who will launch the legal action to do this?

Skin-deep: The awkwardness of Justin Trudeau’s Haida tattoo

Quote:
In the heady, post-election period last October, with Trudeau promising a “new” relationship with Indigenous people, even the Haida leadership applauded the ink: “Of course we’re proud,” Peter Lantin, president of the Council of the Haida Nation said then.

Times, though, have changed. To the Haida, what’s changed is Trudeau. This fall, Ottawa greenlit a controversial LNG terminal near the breeding grounds of one of B.C.’s biggest salmon runs. The Haida are among those First Nations opposed to the Petronas LNG terminal slated for Lelu Island, on B.C.’s North Coast. Already, Davidson says he’ll be among those willing to stand at Lelu Island to block heavy machinery from landing on its shores. Many Haida are equally angry with Trudeau’s decision to allow B.C.’s controversial Site C Dam to go ahead before the Federal Court of Appeal can rule on treaty rights. And the Haida, like most British Columbians, are anxiously awaiting Ottawa’s decision on the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline, expected by Dec. 19.

Today Lantin says the Haida are increasingly angry and offended by Trudeau’s tattoo. Delvina Lawrence, a Haida local, says Trudeau “presents himself as an ally . . . with our ink on his body. We feel he’s stabbed us in the back.” The Haida also talk openly of Trudeau appropriating their culture.

Is there not enough to criticize her for what she has done herself?

I think it is unreasonable to tar her for what the father of her husband did. We are not even responsible for what our fathers did or our fathers' politics. Once you could have spoken to Jack Layton about that.

There are things Wilson Raybould has done and said that she should be held to account for. In the interest of respecting her as an individual (like we should everyone else) let's do that.
