I love it when your opposition starts to look desperate. I doubt if they were looking for it to be tagged with the name "troll truck" when they discussed this in the Liberal war room.
"We are already seeing a fairly high level of negativity in this campaign," said Max Cameron, a political scientist at the University of British Columbia.
"Whether it's effective or not is often a big question."
Cameron said political parties use these strategies when they're trying to get a pejorative term or slogan to stick to their opponents.
"The risk is if you have a strategy that is to go negative, and it doesn't stick well with your opponent, it can do as much damage to you as it does to your adversary." said Cameron.
UBC political scientist Richard Johnston said that both the B.C. Liberals and the NDP made it clear from the outset that this campaign was going to be dirtier than 2013.
"This is turning out to be an exceptionally negative campaign," said Johnston.
But he views the truck as an act of desperation.
"It does make me think that the Liberal are more worried than they let on before the campaign.

I just saw another great NDP ad that highlighted the 96,000 real jobs they will create without destroying the environment or abrogating First nations rights. I wish I could share it but its a FB thing.
North Report for your information part of that NDP ad had a couple of workers loading pipe and a IUOE 115 banner on the truck. The NDP is offering better jobs in more regions of the province.

It seems that the Liberal arrogance is catching up to them. This clip shows de Jong lying about the NDP platform and being called on it. He then proceeds to forget that he is not brow beating the media at the Leg when no one is paying attention but in the middle of an election campaign. B.C. voters need to get full and accurate information before they cast their ballots on May 9, says the Liberals’ Mike de Jong.
“Before they can make an informed choice, they need to know the facts,” the Liberal finance minister said at a heavily hyped presentation on the NDP’s “deceitful” election platform.
I agree with him.
And that’s why I was disgusted to then watch de Jong criticize billions of dollars worth of spending promises that the NDP has not made in this election campaign.
He said the NDP “commitment” to freeze B.C. Hydro rates and ICBC premiums for four years will cost a combined $3.2 billion.
The NDP has not committed to these things, so I asked de Jong why he included them in his presentation.

The BC Building Trades are firmly behind the NDP. Project agreements with local hire are the best way of building projects. Its how we used to do it in this province before the Liberals started their P3 sell-outs.
Today, John Horgan announced his commitment to get the most out of the NDP’s pledge to fund the mayor’s transit plan by committing to use local British Columbia skilled labour and create apprenticeship opportunities through a Project Labour Agreement.
“Projects don’t make a province – people do,” said Tom Sigurdson, Executive Director of the BC Building Trades. “The NDPs commitment to use local workers and employ apprentices is an important milestone in the development of our province.”

It seems that even the vetern Liberals are losing it. Lets hope they keep it up.
During a debate hosted by the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce in the BC riding of Port Moody-Coquitlam Thursday night, Reimer surprised many when she said she supports privatizing healthcare "for those who are able to afford it" – in other words, the wealthy:
"I do support the privatization to a certain extent of our healthcare system. I think that choice is always good for people and I myself have had a surgery in the private healthcare system [...] and so I do support some choice for those who are able to afford it."
In response, BC NDP candidate Rick Glumac blasted Reimer's support for two-tier healthcare, arguing that prioritizing patients "just because they have more money" goes against "my Canadian values":
"That right there, if there's no other reason to not vote Liberal, that's it right there because that is frightening."

I think that a photo-op at a charitible event is in extremely bad taste but to only show up for the photo-op and not do the event is a symbol of Clark's style.
"Clark showed-up for the 33rd annual Vancouver Sun Run on April 23, wearing a bright yellow jacket and bib number 757. She was surrounded by various campaign workers, staff from the premier’s office and a plainclothed RCMP officer in start line photographs published on social media.
She did not finish the 10-kilometre course and the reason has not been disclosed.
Not only did Clark drop out, but so did party liaison Pamela Martin, executive assistant Adam McPhee, spokesmen Stephen Smart and Ben Chin and party special assistant and former Trinity Wester University track and field team member Dylan Kelso. They were not among the 39,769 runners, walkers or wheelers who crossed the B.C. Place Stadium finish line, according to the Sun Run’s official database. "

The Green surge on Vancouver Island means the Liberals will likely hold its two seats and possibly come up the middle for a couple more. The Greens that I know who are active in the party on VI are mostly GenX business people who hate the NDP because philosophically they are libertarians. They also seem to hate unions and hardly ever do they pay the majority of their employees a living wage.
There that is my slag of the Greens based on anecdotal evidence.

The Greens that I know who are active in the party on VI are mostly GenX business people who hate the NDP because philosophically they are libertarians. They also seem to hate unions and hardly ever do they pay the majority of their employees a living wage.
My main concern right now is that the Liberals experience a net loss of the 4 seats it would require to push Christy Crunch back below majority status. Deal with the Green surge after that task has been accomplished, and that task will be much easier when Green MLAs have to actually vote on tough legislation and be held accountable for their views.

But Horgan claims there's a behind-the-scenes push toward private-pay health care that is gaining steam.
"Christy Clark wants to let the rich skip the line, while the rest of us wait months or years for treatment. It's wrong, it's offensive," said Horgan.
"Neglect has resulted in emergency room overcrowding and hallway medicine at facilities like Burnaby Hospital. She's failed to fix the services people count on."

I'm sure that's true but at the same time if you look objectively at the BC Green platform this election, I'm not sure what exactly there is that would be attractive to libertarian business people. The Greens want to spend BILLIONS more than the NDP on just about everything under the sun (e.g. the NDP proposes to put an extra $500 million into public education, the Greens say never mind that we promise to spent $4 BILLION more), the Greens also wholeheartedly embrace the Leap Manifesto and they want to massively hike taxes of almost every kind. I'm not debating the merit of these proposals - just wondering why any of that would be attractive to a high income small business person who wants less government?
