BC Liberals for 16 years now have stood by and allowed middle and lower classes of people be forced out of living in many of the urban areas in BC. Christy Clark clearly represents the extremely wealthy and it's just too bad for the rest of us.

Housing talk gets louder and angrier in Vancouver

whynot

Trudeau hides behind women's skirts that is the kinda feminist supporter he is as Clark threatens to halt coal exports wink, wink in wake of lumber tarrifs despite its the prime minister's territory not Clarks.  Who does the US think they are with their demands of whole logs, China? It has been costly sending whole logs to China and it isn't like they were in a recession like the US so why would BC jepordize jobs and mills to send whole logs to China who was facing  rapid growth and hungry for BC lumber? BC should not be sending jobs to the US and China its British Columbians who should be cut a deal instead of paying more for lumber.  Trump says he talked to his buddies from Mexico and Canada about staying on with Nafta and is open to negotation.  What he really meant is don't do anything hasty the coal must go through so lets talk tarriffs instead of tough.  Trudeau will continue to let the coal go through as part of the negotations and Christy will use this moment to say, " Well I would of if I could of."  In the up in coming election voters have a choice of someone who works for them or someone who lies to them or someone who is green.   The NDP is the sure winner and the enviorment is the sure loser and if you have any concerns take it up with your Prime Minister because Clark is a liar and has no authority over coal exports except during elections.

RBC Capital Markets equity analyst Walter Spracklin cut his rating on Westshore to the equivalent of hold from buy.  Westshore's spokesman, said that Clark's proposal is "misquided" and she "has no power" to carry  it out.

So do y0u have a quote from Clark or Horgan or Weaver on the issue?

The 2013 election saw 10 different polling firms in the field. This time, only two pollsters have released polls since the writ has dropped. Mainstreet has a 10% NDP lead, and a new one from Justason with a 1% Liberal lead (whose final poll last time had a 14% NDP win).

NorthReport

Last election every single pollster from May 15, 2011 until election day on May 14, 2013, in other words for 2 solid years, every single pollster had the BC NDP ahead of the BC Liberals. Election day results were BC Liberals 44.14% and BC NDP 39.71%

And now 2 polls have come out showing the BC Liberals ahead of the NDP, although statistically tied.

Just one week left. How concerned should we be?

Left Turn Left Turn's picture

Read it and weep! I know I am!

I predicted this at the beginning of the election. Some folks on here poo poo'd me and said it would not happen; and yet here it is, significant Green Party support shifting to the BC Liberals :(

One thing I've noted is that Horgan's disapproval ratings seem to have risen during the course of this campaign. Why is that? Did the BC NDP not introduce him properly to the BC public during the pre-campaign period? Are his contradictory statements on resource development coming back to haunt him? Was the party unable to respond to the barrage of negativity that was inevitably going to come from his opponents and the press? Is it something people can move past (like they did with Layton) or is he starting to become damaged goods (like Lingenfelter)?

Well, being ill-tempered is always a liability in politics. It's why Donald Trump lost last November and why Rob Ford lost in 2010.

Weaver is a professor and generally except at acedemic conferences nobody uses Dr. in front of their name merely PHD behind it. It is another Liberal and media attempt to enhance Weaver's gravitas.

Contrast its own vision of better health care, a decent minimum wage and decently priced child care, more affordable housing, good forestry jobs in BC and a climate change action plan against 4 more years of Christy Clark.

Should any party fail to win 44 seats in one week, put forth as an immediate priority in the next sitting of the Ledge a ban on corporate and union donations, and highlight those aspects of the Green platform that are more in line with the NDP and offside with Christy Clark. That will show BC that the NDP means business and will show where the Greens truly stand on the issues.

New survey skews to NDP

If Forum’s predictions are similarly accurate to the 2013 election’s, when they came closest of all pollsters, an election now would see the NDP win with 37 per cent popular support and a 47-seat majority. The B.C. Liberals would get 29 per cent of the popular vote and 34 seats.

------------------------------------

In the BC election held in May 2013, nine different polling firms attempted to predict the election turnout. Forum was the most accurate of the nine with a deviation of 1.6 across all parties, while the least accurate was Justason with a deviation of 5.4. Forum was the only firm to correctly predict a Liberal majority government.

http://www.metronews.ca/news/vancouver/2017/05/02/bcndp-ahead-bc-electio...

jerrym

Forum poll NDP 37%, Glibs 29%, Greens 24%

(I know Forum can be all over the place but they were the only pollster to predict a Liberal victory in 2013).

Quote:

A new poll heading into the final week before the May 9 election — from the only pollster who predicted a B.C. Liberal win in 2013 — has both good news and bad news for B.C. Liberal leader Christy Clark.

The bad news is that her party appears to be trailing the B.C. New Democrats by eight per cent, according to a Forum Research survey of 1,067 voters obtained by Metro, and she remains disliked by nearly two-in-three British Columbians. ...

This is coming down to a very close election,” Forum president Lorne Bozinoff told Metro. “We’ve got the Liberals behind in all three areas, not just in the Interior but also Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.

“But when you have three parties in a race, it’s hard to predict what’s going to happen. It hasn’t gelled yet.”

Subtract the 62 per cent who disapprove of Clark from the 28 per cent backing her, and you’re left with a negative 34-point approval rating that’s far worse that her B.C. NDP rival John Horgan’s negative four point gap, Forum found.

But there’s some “good” news for the embattled Premier, however. Her net approval score actually rose by two points from early April, and as the 2013 election proved, anything can happen in the closing days of the campaign.

If Forum’s predictions are similarly accurate to the 2013 election’s, when they came closest of all pollsters, an election now would see the NDP win with 37 per cent popular support and a 47-seat majority. The B.C. Liberals would get 29 per cent of the popular vote and 34 seats. ...

B.C. Liberal leader Christy Clark attends a rally in Kamloops, B.C., Monday, May 1, 2017.

But the most notable trend for Bozinoff is with the B.C. Green Party, whose leader Andrew Weaver surged in popularity following two televised leader debates. Four-in-ten voters approved of him, while just 17 per cent disapproved — leaping him to a staggering 25-point net approval rating, far better than both other party leaders.

The Greens have reached historic support of 24 per cent province-wide, according to Forum, and an election now would quadruple their current seats in the Legislature.

“The Greens are the wild card in this election,” he said. “This whole thing’s coming down to, ‘What’s going to happen with the Green vote?’

“Will it stick at their high level or not, and if it doesn’t where is it going to go? Green voters are going to have to make that decision closer to election day.”

Amidst those results, Green candidates are coming under increasing scrutiny as their party surges to its highest support in British Columbia’s history — and with that surge, its slate of hopefuls across the province are under the microscope.

One came under fire for impersonating Martin Luther King, Jr., comparing the oppression of African-Americans to Greens, and apologized. Three more apologized on Monday after social media comments surfaced of them making offensive jokes about the Holocaust, pedophilia, drug use and fat people, and another posting 9/11 conspiracy theories.

Weaver is coming under attack over his party’s low level of gender and ethnic diversity, and remarks he made on Facebook inviting unlimited individual donations, even from outside B.C., while stating his party is taking the high road despite lax rules.

Increasingly, the NDP are setting their sights on damaging an adversary they fear could split Liberal opponents’ votes in many ridings. And a video, produced by underwater environmental filmmaker Twyla Roscovich, was circulated Monday warning votersoutside Green-vote-rich southern Vancouver Island not to split the anti-Liberal vote by casting a Green ballot. (Roscovich, the narrator, also has this advice: "Don't trust the polls").

“The Liberals are probably happier the Greens are so high right now,” Bozinoff suggested, “because they could potentially pull that vote away from the NDP.”

Did you notice not a peep in the news about the CBC Poll Tracker's big news about the NDP chances of forming a majority government?

The very fact that Mainstreet Research and the Vancouver Sun are pulling this shit makes their so-called about to be released polling highly suspect.

Timing is everything in politics, and if the CBC' s Poll Tracker is forecasting an NDP majority government, that will have to be countered swiftly and powerfully, least the citizens of BC begin to believe the NDP can actually win this election, and form a majority government.

Why is Christy Clark going back again to the Kamloops area?

Answer is obvious: Because the BC Liberals are in trouble there.

And while you are at it, ask yourselves why the Weaver Greens are keeping candidates that hate overweight people, and that don't believe the Holycaust ever occured, etc.

BC Liberals take back claim woman was NDP plant in #IAmLinda debacle

The BC Liberals say they “stand corrected” after falsely accusing a retired civil servant of being an NDP plant after she encountered Leader Christy Clark in a grocery store and told her she’d never vote for her.

However, the party did not issue an apology to Linda Higgins, which some have been calling for after last week’s encounter. The incident, captured by TV news crews inside a store in North Vancouver, sparked its own hashtag on social media, #IAmLinda, which critics used to vent their own reasons for never supporting Ms. Clark.

On Tuesday, after days of controversy, the Liberals issued a statement that said: “We’re happy to stand corrected,” though the party did not elaborate, despite a request to do so.

Horgan stands up well to scrutiny

Here's what the paper says about both main party leaders:

Quote:
Horgan was at The Citizen for a one-on-one interview where his command of the issues beyond what's bothering the sheltered folks of Victouver was on full display.

He spoke confidently and insightfully about everything from the Columbia River treaty and raw log exports to what a legal marijuana retail sales model could look like in B.C. and the importance of agriculture and food security to Prince George and the surrounding region.

Like the debate, he relied strictly on the database between his ears, some colourful turns of phrase ("serving fruit cups from China in our health-care facilities doesn't make any sense" to explain his support for B.C. agriculture) and a small dose of humility ("the public is well ahead of the policy makers" on the marijuana issue).

He took each question serious and straight up, in contrast with Clark who, when sitting in the same chair last week, seemed slightly annoyed when she couldn't quickly turn a couple of the questions into "jobs, jobs, jobs," "remember the 1990s" and "I'll stand up to Trump."

So the Prince George Citizen is actually endorsing the NDP over the Liberals this time around? I know that the Liberals are bad, but I had no idea they were that bad. I feel sorry for what people in BC have had to endure for the last 16 years.
