TPP unbeknownst?

Our country was formed and our history often about becoming ourselves and resisting assimilation. But the Trans Pacific Partnership is as sovereignty-threatening as any threat we've faced. But it's all so peaceful and invisible, tucked (and even bragged about) inside an omniubus bill.

I lament tha our political culture isn't able to recognize or address it. Or perhaps our left-right antipathy has rendered us hopeless and can't imagine really moving forward and make a difference,

Evolution will happen though we may miss it. But why I wrote . . .is that apparently unbeknownst to us, the TPP moves ahead.

"In the words of WikiLeaks' Editor-in-Chief Julian Assange, "If instituted, the TPP's IP regime would trample over individual rights and free expression, as well as ride roughshod over the intellectual and creative commons. If you read, write, publish, think, listen, dance, sing or invent; if you farm or consume food; if you're ill now or might one day be ill, the TPP has you in its crosshairs."

Not only in Canada, but very much here.

According to 350.org, a leading climate change activist organization, the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) can to this:

It’s a highly secretive and expansive free trade agreement between twelve countries -- including the United States, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia -- that could undermine our democracy. Leaked text from Wikileaks reveals that the TPP would empower corporations to directly sue governments over laws and policies that corporate power alleges reduce their profits. Legislation designed to address climate change, curb fossil fuel expansion and reduce air pollution could all be subject to attack as a result of TPP. [emphasis theirs]

"Negotiations underway to finalize TPP - revived since Washington's departure - backroom negotiations...all in hopes of getting agreement on a sweeping trade deal by year's end..."

Like taking candy from a baby - 'sweeping' indeed. Canucklheads won't even know what hit them once these international big money mafia deals (CETA/TPP/NAFTA2) kick in.

Yup, and not a single political party is willing to make them a central issue.
