Being on Israel's side didn't do much to help Jonathan Polllard, given that he was actually breaking US law. Which is also what is being alleged about the so-called Kremlingate gang.
That said, I do agree that the Israel lobby has a baleful influence on US politics, and that Israel should not not be getting legal privileges like eg. exemption from registering its lobbyists. But that's neither here nor there in regards to the discussion about Trump and Russia.
It's like if the mayor of a city gets accused of beating his wife, and someone responds with "That's so unfair, if he had been a cop, the blue wall of silence would have kicked in and his colleagues would have protected him." That's probably true, but then the solution to the problem is to end the blue wall of silence, not to extend it to politicians.

The real question isn't so much what the Kremlin did or didn't do. The real question is what the Trump team thought they going to do.
If I got my family together and told them I wanted to rob a bank, and I was going to get my next door neighbour to help me, then had a family member talk to said neighbour just to feel the situation out a bit, that doesn't necessarily make my neighbour complicit. At the same time, I am still a conspirator.
What baffles me more than anything is what the Stalinist's see in Trump. There has never been any indication, through his whole life, that he gives a shit for anyone, or anything, but himself. He's a narcissist extraodinaire, a pathological liar, and has a skin thinner than a cigarette paper.

Because in order to be taken seriously, the "proceedings" will have to produce concrete evidence. Looking at his history over the last 45 years, I have no difficulty believing Trump may have broken the law in order to get elected. He has never respected ethics and the law in order to get ahead so why should he now?

It's possible that Trump and his underlings were in collusion with Russia and with Israel. Why would Russia-gate and Israel-gate be mutually exclusive?
