Martine Ouellet loses Bloc Québécois leadership confidence vote

Sunday, June 3, 2018

Only 32 per cent voted in favour of Ouellet's leadership.

Ouellet previously said 50 per cent plus one would give her legitimacy to continue leading.

Question:  Will she actually just resign tomorrow...or will she just form ANOTHER sovereigntist splinter party to stick it to the Bloc and to the former Bloquiste MPs who deserted the Bloc earlier?

My sense is that this Mme. Oullette may not be about anything other than vengeance at this stage of the game.

If she were to form a new party, she could reach out to the last surviving Creditistes, and together they could form a new part called "Ralliement Futilitistes' ".

Martine Ouellet to step down as Bloc Quebecois leader, effective June 11

"I did not come to the Bloc for a title but to defend a cause: that of independence and the republic of Quebec," she told the news conference.

"Rest assured, I will continue. Nothing is finished for me. But I must admit that, at the end of the day, my main conclusion is that the main obstacle to Quebec becoming a republic comes from within the sovereigntist movement.

"That is not normal. The movement is ill."

[s]Good riddance.[/s]

ETA: Ignore that gratuitous remark. I'm listening to her speech. I like it! Shame on me, I forgot about all the good positions and good work the Bloc actually did in the past year. At least, by contrast with almost everyone else.

So...will the Bloq MPs who left the party over her leadership try to rejoin now?  In theory, the rank-and-file shouldn't have any issues with THEM.
