becareful what you put in your body.

BC just had 130 0verdoses in a day. Luckily no one died, probably because addicts think Naxalone is a get out of jail free card.

I've never tried drugs but if I did I think I'd want it to somehow be a little better regulated than from some dude on a corner.

quizzical

there are all types of edibles not just gummies. cakes like ding dongs, stawberry shortcake, ho ho's and all sorts of  chocolate bar types.

and stop with the stoner crap magoo. it's ignorant.

there are also just cbd edibles with no thc. pain relief only like the different oil extracts.

Alright.  Sorry that "Steve" will be selling you rope weed for another few months.  But I won't be interested in complaints after Oct. 17, so if the official stuff where you are is just as bad and a dollar more, keep it to yourself.

Much like, once Canada implemented universal government-provided health care, everyone who didn't prefer the American system had to shut up forever about flaws with the system. There are only two choices, you see, and if the change you favour doesn't fix everything as it's implemented, you were really better off under the old system.

Mr. Magoo Mr. Magoo's picture

What do we generally say to people who think that some parts of the "American system" are, in fact, better?

Anyway, moot point.  The Quebec model will be cheap and high quality.

You're not a fan of cannabis, get the hell off the subject. And don't fucking talk down to me. OK,Buckwheat?

And apparently you can't read. The SDCQ will be selling cannabis of FAR better quality than what you're going to find. In this city at least. Skunk #1 and OG Kush is quality cannabis. THC levels ranging from 15% to 22% is not something to complain about. And it's going to be much much cheaper than what you're going to get from your local dealer..unless you're buying bulk like a kilo or a pound. There'll be no complaining except for you when it becomes successful and it satisfies mostly every smoker. Noobody gives a fuck if you don't like it.

Your opinion and a quarter will buy you a half cup of water. That was a real asshole comment. And I'd apprteciate it if you would refrain from trying to engage in conversation or engage in  sarcasm with me. I'm tired of it.Leavre me alone. I'm sick of your contempt and I'm sick of your condescnding  arrogance. You're not  as clever as you think you are.

And as for your opinion? Keep it to yourself.

One of Doug Ford’s closest allies boasts the Ontario Premier’s move to slash half the seats at Toronto City Hall will cripple Ford’s political opposition.

Speaking at a press conference at Queen’s Park on Monday, Toronto Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti said Ford’s gutting Toronto City Council is a good move because it would silence “left-leaning” voices on council.

“There is going to be less left-leaning politicians in the City of Toronto,” Mammoliti told reporters.

“That means it’s a great thing.”

I'd be careful about throwing stones on grammatical issues here. The less/fewer confusion quite likely crosses ideological boundaries. I'm not entirely sure that I knew the exact rule, prior to becoming an ESL teacher.

i can't believe how many people my age 30's down to the 20's use "are" instead of "our" in speech and written. like " let's go to are house". then to top things off they argue with you when you correct them and get all twisted hurt like they've been betrayed and someone changed it to "our" behind their back.

After his first month in office, premier Doug Ford has launched a new social media account to promote his political agenda.

Titled ‘Ontario News Now,’ the Twitter account only follows Ford, and is described as “timely exclusive content on the PC government’s priorities for the people of Ontario.”

the Ford government confirmed that production of the content is being paid for with tax dollars.

The time has come for the Ontario edition of Who Wants to Expropriate a Billionaire!

In the coming weeks, the Province's top eight billionaires will face off in a single-elimination tournament where *you* decide who should be the first to have their wealth expropriated* and put to work for the common good!

There's only one letter's difference between millionaire and billionaire, but it's actually hard for the human mind to comprehend how different they are. We'll try to help.

A million seconds ago was the week before last. A billion seconds ago it was 1987.

A million dollars will pay the median salary of 16 Ontario teachers for a year. A billion dollars will pay 166 teachers for 100 years.

Billionaires have superhuman powers to influence political decisions and shape the economy; their very existence undermines the basic assumptions of democracy.

A case *could* be made for multi-millionaires being useful for society; no such case can be made for billionaires. The simple solution is to abolish billionaires.

With Who Wants to Expropriate a Billionaire, we'll decide where to start!

Doug Ford Passes ‘Vindictive’ Gerrymandering Law Aimed at Rigging Toronto’s 2018 Municipal Election

Doug Ford’s Ontario PC government has passed a controversial law to radically redraw Toronto’s political boundaries only two months before the City’s upcoming municipal elections in October.

After refusing to hold public consultations and shutting down legislative debate, Ford’s PCs used their majority to ram through Bill 5 – the Orwellian-named “Better Local Government Act.”

City leaders have questioned Ford’s motives ramming through radical structural changes two months before an election when he never even hinted about them on the campaign trail during Ontario’s provincial election this spring.....

This is why cannabis is being legalized. To regulate it and stop someone to do something stupid like smoke 'spice

Cannabis smokers will know eactly what they are putting in their bodies starting in October. Good policy that should have been  done in the early 70's if Canada followed through with  the Le Dain commisissions recommendation  They almost did.

As for this ' get out of jail free card' nonsense,no adddict sets out to have an overdose. It's always because of a mistake. This is also the reason  Canada should follow the Norwegian model and provide addicts with free heroin to be used under the supervision of doctors at a safe injection site. Especially BC.

Going back to your original comment,Nobody would be interested in smoking synthetic marijuana if the real thing was legal and  readily available.

My guess is that these people were desperate Who would  smoke synthetic poison when they can smoke safe and  regulated cannabis?

The answer is the vast vast majority. You'll always have stupid people using dangerous substances. But that's the 5%

BTW, don't lecture people like me who have excellent knowlege of what to put in our bodies. Straights just don't get it and never will. Leave the science to those who have hands on knowlege,

The progressives were able to produce results in the Ontario election and now there are more important places where the energy needs to be focussed. The upcoming federal election needs the attention and a constant attack needs to be aimed squarely at the Liberals. Then that fucking asshole can form the Canadian Libertarian Party and split the Conservative vote for the next 15 years or so and I wouldn't have to deal with the prospect of a Conservative government until I'm at retirement age and on my way to death.

This place is bastion of progressive thought. During the last few years of observation I have learned that the real progress comes from beating the Liberals, even if that means the Cons win.

Then I realised that I was wrong all along thinking that the Cons are the antiprogressives. Apparently the Cons are not the enemy, and they are not to be criticised, the most rabid and harsh criticism is to be reserved for the Liberals and that is the only way forward.

Just like in the last Ontario Provincial Election, when the results came in, there was one winner. Now if you watch the election night speeches of the leaders you come out with the impression that there were actually two winners and one loser. The Cons won by winning the govt and the Progressives won by beating the Liberals. And you could hear the echos of that around here as well. Now when the true results of that election are coming about, in terms of policy change, the cheerleaders for the "Progressive Victory" have disappeared because the real purpose was defeat of the Liberals, consequences be damned. And the focus is back on Lil Oil King Justin in the federal section.

About Bernier being expelled from the Con party. Bernier is not going rogue, he is using the fog horn with tacit approval of the Cons. The strategy is to keep both the voting blocs intact. Bernier keeps the lowest common denominator happy while Mr Scheer acts as the soothsayer to keep the multicultural crowd in the tent.

You and I are a minority around these parts. We think that real enemy is the Cons.

My eyes almost rolled out of my head with you defending the Conservatives. I hope the Liberals stay in power for the next 20 years. Fuck the Conservatives. And thanks to you showing your true colours,Fuck the NDP. If their supporters think like you the NDP DESERVES to dwell in the cellar hopefully FOREVER. Actually there's no need to hope you're perennial losers. By the way it just occured to me. You're defending Doug Turd after he made it a priority to cut benefits for welfare recipients INCLUDING those with disabilities. You're defending a homophobic, misogynist and racist CPC. And you dare call yourself progressive? You must be on crack. Or you're just a confused sad person and a wretched Tory in complete denial.

I never defended the Cons, never will. Any progressive that thinks that Cons should be left alone and Liberals brought down is a closet Con, a blue asshole wearing an orange mask. And worse are the orange assholes who defend such bullshit. thanks for agreeinig with me.

The people who were cheering the demise of Wynne on these boards should come and justify their victory parade on finishing second. But they will not come here and discuss because as far as they are concerned their privileges are not threatened by a Con govt.

I want people to get as mad as I am at the so called progressives who dont mind a Con govt as long as Libs are defeated. There is at least one person who is angrier than I am, and that makes me feel a little better because I was feeling pretty depressed thinking that I am alone.

Hi epaulo13. There's a real good logical reason why "buck a beer" works. It plays to materialism. The corporations have brainwashed most people into materialism, so all the hard work has already been done for Doug Ford. He just walks in with a few catchy pro materialism phrases and the brainwashed follow the pied piper in a zombie like trance.

Want to beat Doug Ford and the rest of his corporate puppets? Fight materialism. A lot easier said than done.

Hi epaulo13. There's a real good logical reason why "buck a beer" works. It plays to materialism.

Quite the opposite.  Materialism, by definition, is concerned with material well-being -- those things in the world that we could take a picture of, like money, or beer, or a car, or $400 running shoes, or a diamond ring.

The cost of beer is hardly prohibitive, and hasn't really increased any faster than the cost of wine or gas or running shoes.

The "buck-a-beer" is a symbolic gesture that harkens back to a gentler, better time in some people's lives, when a beer was a dollar, and a man could pop a cold one, settle back in his chair and know how great things were.

Notice there's no reduction whatsoever in the cost of "sissy" drinks like Chardonnay or Merlot or Scotch.

This is like when companies advertise a sale as "PAY NO TAX!!!".  Guess what?  You're still paying tax, and the company you buy from is still remitting it.  All they've done is made some trivial "13% off sale" sound like you get to stick it to the government when you're doing no such thing.  You're just getting a really weak sale price.

Quote:

No.  Fight jingoism.  Fight sloganeering.  Fight the same emotional quick-fix that gave our neighbours Trump.  None of it has to do with a few bucks.

Buck a beer is code for more beer. More is synomynous with materialism, or a big part of it.

Regardless, we're never going to agree here because you're the classic example of someone who is completely trapped brainwashed into materialism with your suv and kids playing hockey with all their equipment you need to lug around.

So anything you say will either be to justify your lifestyle or completely deny that your lifestyle is part of materialism. Am I right?

Nope.  No kids, no SUV (not even a driver's licence) and no hockey.  In the other thread that you're flogging your "down with materialism" mantra in, I even used that as an example of excess, from an environmental point of view.
