I seem to recall reading of a few countries banning the internal combustion engine several political mandates in the future.
Perhaps Canada could be so brave, and commit to no more gas-burning vehicles by 2050 or whatever. Why can't our cowardly politicos write a cheque that their grandchildren will have to cash?
Meanwhile, my kid plays hockey, OKAY? And I can't afford to buy my bottled water anywhere other than CostClub! I don't own my SUV as a penis substitute, I own it because I would literally die without it. Did I mention my kid is a goalie?? You can't fit that gear in a SmartCar!

People don't judge the "quality" of a comment. They just decide whether they agree. If they do, it's an excellent comment, and if they don't, it's an inane comment.
My point -- and I've said this lots and lots -- is that it's super if the public finally recognizes the need to do something about global warming and environmental destruction, but orders of magnitude less so if they keep driving 10 miles to PriceClub to save $1 on a case of bottled water.
It's also super if some European lawmakers declare that internal combustion engines will be fully replaced by zero-fossil alternatives at some date in the future when they'll all be dead anyway (and, if the movies are correct, we'll all be piloting sky-cars, or teleporting). Nothing says "courage" like a 60 year old lawmaker voting for a law that kicks in 40 years from now.
That said, if (say) France or Germany or heck, India or China, were to vote to take IC vehicles off the road by 2020, that would be worthy of notice.

i don’t believe Guangxi or any other provinces in China banned the motorcycle? Just the cities. However Shanghai and Beijing are somewhat like provincial regions in their own right so let’s just count them as cities for this
also during my search I found there is restrictions on e bikes now in Chinese cities

Not sure about any news of bans on gas diesel cars? Nothing pops to mind. However last time I was in ShenZhen I did ride in a completely electric taxi cab. So they are getting more common in China.
In going to Beijing for several days on labour day then down to Nanning for the duration. I’ll let you know what I see when I get back.
I should also point out that Hong Kong Macao and No where on Taiwan has the motorcycle been banned

With the idea of banning the ICE and some politicians promising not to have gasoline powered cars beyond a certain date, it is time for a reality check on the promise of electric cars. Think of the issues of private autmobile ownership. They burn greenhouse gases. They need a great deal of space on roads to accomodate them, and in parking lots. Building both often involves the destruction of natural habitats. Travelling by car also has the social impact of isolating people from one another and the surrounding world. Switching to electric only solves one of those problems. It also creates more. The demand on the power grid will only go up in order to power these cars. Where is this electricity going to come from? Sure you can have more renewable electricity, but the best way to save energy is through conservation. Also, what elements are needed to power the car battery? Where do they come from? What is going to happen to these batteries at the end of their life cycle? How will they be disposed of?
If the idea is that electric cars are one piece that helps overall, that's one thing. They are not a silver bullet that is going to solve our problems, and we need to not fall for propaganda that painst them that way.
