‘Act of God’
Mr. Magoo

It would certainly seem that a bit of "science" could have helped here.  This is not an easily explained-away "mistake".  But I'm drawn to notice two things:

1) I would have honestly thought this sort of project would have fallen under Provincial or Federal jurisdiction.  I'm totally ready to be wrong on that, but that would have been my guess.

2) "Act of God"??  Really?  I suppose that's still an anachronistic legal term that we might want to consider someday replacing with "an act of chance" or "an act of entropy" or some similar thing that doesn't make it look like our government and legal system have a pre-existing belief in a supernatural power.

But:

Quote:
The Dyck Memorial Bridge, located in the RM of Clayton about 300 kilometres east of Saskatoon, collapsed Friday shortly after it was opened.

Might I suggest that in recognition of this fail, if the bridge is re-erected, it be named "The Dyck Memorial Bridge Memorial Bridge" in honour of its fallen predecessor?

Ha!

Well at least no one appears to have been physically hurt in this incident.

Imagine that.

PART I

CANADIAN CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS

Whereas Canada is founded upon the principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law:

quizzical

can we use  the notwithstanding clause on it kropotkin?

Mr. Magoo

If the Feds ever order the Provinces to step in line because of the "supremacy of God" then I hope so.

If we don't elect the Cons then maybe we'll never have to find out.

quizzical

am gonna look for religion stats in Canada.

it's not just "Christian's who believe in the supremacy of "God" no matter what God's name is.

ETA...

24% of Canadians have no religion.

39% are Catholic identifying, making sense of catholic private schools still existing.

28% is other types of Christianity

9% are other believers in a supreme diety.

no wonder Scheer is CPC leader it's their turn in the grand evangelical catholic coalition called the CPC federally and UPC in Alberta.

not going to get God out of the Charter ever

the stats are for 2011 btw. Harper's fault for none current

I remember when Svend brought a petition from constituents calling for removal of that obnoxious fairy tale. Even thought he did not sign it and was merely bringing forward a petition as MP's are supposed to do the shit hit the fan for awhile. As usual the worst heat came from the NDP head office.
