I’m going to speculate that the US will not get too militarily involved with Venezuela and if so it would be only testing the Venezuela opposition to see if they could stomach a long drawn out civil war or some kind of proxy war.
Venezuela is a much larger country than those in Central America. If Columbia gets involved, socialist elements in Columbia may take advantage and start attacking their right wing government. Fighting could spread in other countries?
I’ve noticed the US likes proxy and all out wars when they’re geographically separated from the US, on another continent. I have a feeling that the Gulf of Mexico isn’t enough separation from the continental US to have something similar as Libya/Syria/Afghanistan etc etc. If I’m wrong then it would be a huge departure from the US comfort zone. Either way, people in Venezuela are going to die due to the US
