Boeing Disaster: Countries Ground 737 Max 8 Amid Probe: Billions at Stake

https://on.rt.com/9q0s

"Countries around the globe are grounding their Boeing 737 Max 8 fleets, as the best-selling jet is under investigation after two deadly crashes in under five months. The US firm's reputation and billions of dollars are at stake..."

Possibly helps explain USA/Canada's continued use of the accident-prone passenger jets.

Looks like you can also add the Americans to the list now too, as of about 15 minutes ago.

Good thread NDPP!

Europe has banned the model from their airspace.

Probably some economic politics going on here to.

Either way, my family and I won’t ever be boarding this 737!

Garneau is another lame useless liberal kissing uncle sams ass.  At one time earlier this week he said these planes were safe or something along those lines. But is now backtracking. I hope his constituents give this joker the boot come October.

Kudos for Jag and the flight attendants union for calling for the flight suspension of these planes!

The Boeing 737 Max Reversal Shows Team Trudeau is Flying Blind

https://thestar.com/politics/political-opinion/2019/03/13/the-boeing-737...

"...By the time Garneau appeared on Wednesday to announce he was reversing his earlier stance that the aircraft was safe to fly, just about every international ally of Canada - with the exception of the United States - had already grounded the plane."

I wish we knew exactly what pressure the US brought to bear on Canada and what the discussions were in order to judge.

Black Boxes From Crashed Boeing 737 Max 8 Arrive After Ethiopia Refuses to Send Them To US

https://twitter.com/globeandmail/status/1105870397755396096

"Two black boxes from the crashed  Boeing 737 Max aircraft have arrived in Paris for expert analysis after Ethiopian Airlines decided to send them to Europe, rather than to the US, where the Boeing 737 Max 8 was manufactured. The decision is in defiance of US requests..."

So this is what I'm going to speculate.

Over the last year, Trump has been on a USA USA USA agressive in your face international trade trampleing stampede. Forcing just about every country to bend to its will. And with some limited success!

Boeing represents probably the best hi tech manufacturing sector in the US. If there was any part in the US economy if hurt where it would impact the most, this is it right here!

I remember in the France thread I suggested that karma was coming back to haunt France. Michael Moriarity replied that karma only applies to people, not countries. Looks like your wrong Michael.

Sending the black box to France and not the US. Sounds like Boeing is going to lose lots of orders. Loss of confidence in the aerospace industry may take decades to recover.

For those interested in the results, above is a link to the BEA. Hopefully in the next week they will post the results. But perhaps doing so may be too much for Boeing to bear?

I don't feel this way. I think the BEA can be trusted and will not doom the plane unless it really is unrepairable. The issue is that the US could not be trusted. Let's wait to learn if the plane is repairable or not. If it is then Boeing will not be harmed.

What is harmed is the US reputation. That is serious.

That’s not what I’ve learned from the commercial aerospace industry.

From what I’ve learned from China’s experience in trying to get into the business, safety is a big thing. Two crashes with over 300 people dead, numerous pilots complaining and an outright ban from the plane flying in many regions airspace could have already caused huge damage to Boeing’s reputation already! This is getting worse each day for Boeing

Ironically, China’s C919 is in direct competition with the 737. I believe Bombardier makes a similar class jet and probably Brazil and Russia. Obviously airbus probably has several similar class jets.

But really, the move by Ethiopia To send flight recorders to the BEA and not the FAA to me suggests there’s more going on then on the surface. It may very well be that this plane is a far greater risk than the icm is reporting.

Every day there’s more bad news coming out. This story is getting worse by the hour just about.

I wouldn’t be surprised that this story kills Trumps re-election bid and seriously hurts the US economy to the point that the US abandons their current economic trade campaigns/tactics.
