Well then why not just use this "system" in everyday life?  Weed out these "sickos" from society, not just from the web?

In terms of population, Canada is barely one one-hundredth the size of FB, so it should be super easy.

The problem with just "cracking down" on online "sickos" is that we expect this "system" to magically identify and isolate the "sickos", but leave us and our privacy untouched.  Only require the "sickos" to give their real names, and only make the "sickos" legally and criminally responsible for their posts, re-tweets and links, only eavesdrop on the "sickos" conversations and suchlike.

It's a bit like demanding that the police crack down on DUI drivers, while opposing random breathalyzer checks, or engine interlock systems, or any "intrusive" regulations around alcohol consumption.  Just magically target only the bad people with laser-like precision.

I suppose it is better than nothing but it seems to me this is just a whack-a-mole game, where Facebook removes one, and almost immediately others take its place

Turn off your digital devices and don't go on social media. Problem solved.

Obama-Era Officials Call for More Government Control of your Facebook Feed

"Writing in the Washington Post, senior Obama-era official Samantha Power has called on social media giant Facebook to do more to crush what she calls conspiracy theories and disinformation circulating on its platform.

52% of Americans get news on Facebook, making it an enormously powerful and influential news service, not just a social media or messaging app. For years, it has at least partially outsourced its news feed algorithm cultivation to the Atlantic Council, a NATO cutout organization funded by the US government and headed and controlled by former CIA chiefs..."

Mark Zuckerberg donated $400 m to help local election offices during pandemic

Phil Kline of the Thomas More Society's Amistad Project in a statement last week...called the donations 'an insidious, coordinated and stealth campaign to manipulate this year's election..."

Perhaps that will help take care of FB's troubles with the FTC.

The contribution brings the total funding for the election from Zuckerberg and Chan to $400 million — the same amount that Congress allocated in March to help fund election offices as they dealt with the difficulties of adapting to new voting behavior during the coronavirus pandemic. Election experts had estimated it could cost $4 billion to make all the changes, but Senate Republicans never acted on a relief bill from the Democratic-controlled House that included $3.6 billion to help voting officials.

Conservative Republicans, like you apparently, live to suppress the vote in urban areas.

LOL. I'll add that to the growing pile of stupidities from you Yanqui.
