You seem over-joyed to welcome PM Scheer if things don't change before October (and they will).

Yes, they will change as the empty suit you embrace becomes increasingly desperate and the Librano party becomes even more desperate with him. The risk of losing access to the trough makes Libranos very dangerous.

Trudeau has dispelled all the elusions, illusions or both carefully crafted about him. The scripted talking points painfully memorised. If only the Kokanee Grope victim has the courage to stand and deliver, the empty suit will morph into the emperor with no clothes.

Ironic that this most abject American lackey should practice how to appear otherwise. Even more so that some apparently bought it.

Don't be rude. I'm not embracing anyone. Not even Jagmeet Singh. We have three prospective leaders. Scheer, who would reduce taxes then services, who feeds racism and is in bed with corporations. Trudeau, also in bed with corporations but who does less damage to government and does improve the lives of some Canadians. Lastly we have Jagmeet Singh who would probably be the best PM we have had in recent times but who is extremely unlikely to win the election.

That is what faces Canadians in October.

Ya that’s open for debate hey?

You could also say “how dare the liberals try to reduce poverty during an election year” as implied by North Report.

Another hour, another Liberal problem it seems. This time in BC!

After Greens slaughter Liberals in by-election, Pamela Goldsmith-Jones announces she won't seek reelection

In the Nanaimo-Ladysmith by-election, Liberal candidate Michelle Corfield only attracted 11 percent of the votes, compared to 37.3 percent for Manly.

In 2015, Liberal candidate Tim Tessier received 23.5 percent, coming in second, whereas Manly was back in fourth place with 19.8 percent.

This suggests that many former Liberal voters in Nanaimo-Ladysmith supported the Greens in the by-election.

In her message to constituents, Goldsmith-Jones made no mention of the rising strength of the Greens nor the Liberal government's controversial purchase of the Trans Mountain pipeline system for $4.5 billion.

As long as Conservatives don't get a majority this election will be good.

1st choice is Singh for PM but failing that the next best thing is a Liberal minority with the NDP holding the balance of power. The only way for that to happen is for Liberal numbers to drop.

Logic would dictate that if Russia interferes with a Canadian election, it would be to support a pro Russian Canadian political party. Andrew Scheer's Conservative Party is struggling to make inroads in Ontario, the battleground province that's likely to decide October's federal election. He might have Ontario Premier Doug Ford to thank for that.

The increasing likelihood of a minority government in the October election reflects a worldwide trend.

Canadians can't seem to make up their minds lately, with more minority governments in power across the country than ever before — and another one potentially on its way in October's federal election.

It's partly the result of people moving away from their traditional voting patterns and being increasingly open to new options. It's a trend more than a few candidates are counting on this fall.

Establishment parties are struggling around the globe. In recent elections to the European Parliament — the largest democratic exercise in the world after India's elections — the two groupings of parties that always have held sway lost their combined majority for the first time.

That anti-establishment vote splintered in different directions. Far-right populists, Greens and pro-EU liberals all made gains at the expense of the centre-right European People's Party and the centre-left Socialists & Democrats. ...

That makes four minority governments across the country, more than have ever existed in Canada's provinces at the same time. It surpasses the record of three minority provincial governments that was met just three times in the past: in 1920-22, 1943-45 and 1971-72.

Judging by national polls, Canadians appear prepared to prevent any party from securing a majority government in October's federal election as well.

Sorry, I don't see a minority government happening at all. The NDP is very weak and will be lucky to hold onto the seats it has. Half the seats that are in contentions for the Greens will come from the NDP, which will not in any way change the balance of power between the 2 big parties. It's shaping up to be a polarized election, where people want to vote Liberal to stop Scheer or Conservative to stop Trudeau. Further to that, the business community supports both major parties. With the third parties in a very weak state, I think the business community will wait for the right moment to see whether the Liberals or Conservatives are doing better, and will ride that horse across the finish line.

If Trudeau doesn't win a majority this fall, Scheer will. There simply is no reason to think that a minority is viable.

With the NDP, Greens, and BQ all running just below 15%, it looks like the upcoming FPTP election could produce a huge amount of wasted votes!

Another excuse for an article. Current numbers are meaningless in terms of predicting the outcome of the election in October.

Most of the MSM supports the Conservatives. Didn't the National Post and Globe etc. all endorse Harper in 2015? Do they look like they are propping Trudeau? Trudeau is second best and portrayed as part of the left (rolling my eyes) which functions as a means of trying to portray the NDP as the farther left. If I were to position them I would call the current Conservatives right wing, the Liberals centre-right, and the NDP centre left.

The fact that the mainstream media is now calling the NDP's policies "fiscal insanity" tells me that they're heading in the right direction. The media is not the NDP's friend, whenever the media is happy with the direction of the NDP's platform and pumping them up, its time to worry. Singh is going in the right direction and can still turn this around into an improvement on 2015... in fact I think they will.

Some fairly good coverage of the NDP's platform release from Aaron Wherry at CBC, while noting -- as many have -- "What the NDP platform lacked on Sunday was anything that looked like a full costing." It will be interesting to see what that full costing looks like when it does get released.

The EKOS poll is certainly a bad one for the NDP, although the other pollsters don't show the NDP doing quite that badly so it may be a bit of an outlier.

Still, it does show that the Greens have the potential to challenge the NDP in a way they haven't before (and also cause some problems for the Liberals).

Talk about an arms dealer.

Trudeaus (and Bill Blair's) anti-gun hysteria just seen 20'000  AR15 rifles bought in Canada last month.  Lots of gun stores sold out. Maybe Trudeau will ban them last minute to try to get a few more votes that way. What an expensive move that would be, and not likely to garner many new votes.

Great move including to delay costing. The PBO will be putting the seal of approval on all the platforms. I'm betting that Guy Caron has dotted the is' and crossed the ts' on this one.

It will be good  for the NDP if the other parties spend time attacking the platform as unaffordable just like it was good for the Liberals that they spend time accusing the Liberals of not having any policy.
