Megan Leslie‏:

I’m thinking about my time working with Mark Warawa in Parliament. It goes without saying that we did not agree on many things. We clashed on abortion rights, and we fought about climate change. But we never fought bitterly, and while we were opponents we weren’t enemies.

I extend my deepest sympathies and prayers to the family and friends of MP Mark Warawa. I spoke with Mark many times over the years. He had a deep faith and a belief that people could be better. Go to the angels Mark.

Wow she really makes the news of his death all about herself on her twitter feed.

I would like to offer my most sincere condolences to BC MP Mark Warawa's wife Diane, their five children and ten grandchildren. Mark and I spent a lot of time together travelling from BC to Ottawa and back. I never doubted his integrity and his conviction. He died far too young.

She does nothing of the sort...her post there was simply about illustrating that they had a working relationship that managed to be free of personal rancor.   Why was it so important to you to find something to snark about in this?

Ken, why is it important? It's not. Just an observation and my read of it.

- goes without saying that we did not agree on many things. We clashed on abortion rights, and we fought about climate change.

-As much as I felt called to public service to fight against the very values he worked to uphold

-While we all know Chairs are partisan, there was a time I thought he was being unfair. I met him in his office and called him out on it, probably too aggressively. I reminded him that they had the majority so they’d always win: if we didn’t have procedural fairness we had nothing

I respect and value your opinion and views Ken. When you posted I immediately went back to the twitter feed to reread it a few times and question myself if I'm wrong. Having done so I have to say I don't think I'm wrong. Reading the comments above it looks like she's trying to sneak plugs in about herself and her work on the back of condolence messages.

I think the NDP (& Liberal) MPs are trying to say that although Mark Warawa was a social conservative, they were able to have a friendly relationship with him on a personal level.

As a gay man, I wasn't exactly a fan of his socially conservative views, but it's too bad he died of cancer.

Other than maybe Hitler-who didn't have it, unfortunately-nobody could ever be said to have deserved cancer.

So he announced his retirement, and then cancer claims his life before his retirement comes? Politics aside, that is a very sad thing to happen.
