The Guardian's Direct Collusion With Media Censorship by Secret Services Exposed

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2019/06/22/guar-j22.html

"Minutes of Ministry of Defence (MoD) meetings have confirmed the role of Britain's Guardian newspaper as a mouthpiece for the intelligence agencies. Under the direction of military intelligence handlers, the Guardian played a direct role in bringing other newspapers internationally to heel. The Guardian has been viewed historically as the voice of British liberal dissent critical of the worst excesses of British capitalism at home and abroad. But it has always acted as a political policeman...

I think a lot of us would agree about the consensual liberal or social-democratic orientation of the Guardian, but they do have excellent environmental reporting. I'm far to the left of the Guardian, but want nothing to do with the sectarian crap spouted by WSWS. I saw them in "action" or rather inaction during the student spring, where they did nothing but shit on the student movement and the Québécois labour movement.

Took the words right out of my mouth, lagatta!

Speaking of the Guardian on environmental (and labour) issues, here's the kind of article I'd love to see elsewhere:

Paper straws won’t save the planet – we need a four-day week

lagatta4

That is true - a four-day week would be transformative. I'm not against paper straws, as plastic ones cause dreadful harm to wildlife, but a four-day week would do much more. Obviously another angle that never received adequate attention is the great environmental harm caused by the military. War itself, of course, but also the arsenal, arms buildup, military vehicles and machines not subjected to the same standards as civilian ones etc.

But there are also sweeping changes to be made in public transport as well as transport of goods, and town planning.

The WSWS isn't the People's Front of Judea...or even the Judean People's Front-splitters!.  On a good day, with a following wind, they might be the Popular Front:

The day the global revolution triumps, the WSWS will denounce it as the final surrender to capitalism.

Glenn Greenwald on the secret to the Guardian's 'success':

https://twitter.com/jonathan_K_Cook/status/1142693887007514624

"Glenn Greenwald, in two short videos, explains why journalists are among the keenest promoters of illegal and destructive wars on behalf of their corporate paymasters. The more bloodthirsty they are, the more they prosper emotionally, financially and professionally..."

"Matt Kennard's expose of the Guardian's collusion with Britain's deep state is real journalism. See the analysis below. A veneer of often facile gender promotion is not nearly enough to suppress the truth of a determined assault on democracy from within."

The Guardian does have much better much than average MSM climate reporting/journalism, which is probably the most important and under-reported impending global disaster. The Guardian is also often comparitively progressive on social issues.

Any blanket condemnation of the Guardian is unwarranted, but what the hell bearing does that have to do with he thread topic which is about the Guardian's collusion with the Ministry of Defense and the pipelining of MoD disinformation?

With the second red herring,  ie. shooting the messenger to avoid discussing the truth or falsity of the reporting, even the aim is bad.  Though mocking a socialist site seems to get extra guffaws here, the story originates elsewhere as indicated in the first bit of the WSWS piece which is is made out to be too tainted to read:

Minutes of Ministry of Defence (MoD) meetings have confirmed the role of Britain’s Guardian newspaper as a mouthpiece for the intelligence agencies.

Last week, independent journalist Matt Kennard revealed that the paper’s deputy editor, Paul Johnson, was personally thanked by the Defence and Security Media Advisory Notice (or D-Notice) committee for integrating the Guardian into the operations of the security services.

Minutes of a meeting in 2018 read: “The Chairman thanked Paul Johnson for his service to the Committee. Paul had joined the Committee in the wake of the Snowden affair and had been instrumental in re-establishing links with the Guardian.”

D-Notices are used by the British state to veto the publication of news damaging to its interests. The slavish collusion of the mainstream media ensures that such notices function as gag orders.

Johnson joined the committee in 2014 and evidently excelled in his performance. A separate set of minutes from the first meeting attended by Johnson records the Guardian’s close collaboration with military officials....

The story's claim originated from the investigative journalist Matt Kennard who has written occassionally for the Guardian up to beginning of 2017. His brief bio in the Guardian then:

Matt Kennard is a Bertha fellow at the Centre for Investigative Journalism. He was previously a reporter for the Financial Times and is the author of two books, Irregular Army and The Racket, which was released in 2015is a Bertha fellow at the Centre for Investigative Journalism. He was previously a reporter for the Financial Times and is the author of two books, Irregular Army and The Racket, which was released in 2015.

The  much anticipated fleshing out of the story since Matt Kinnard's brief (documented) reveal of the Guardian's tight links with UK Government and spy services weeks ago.

This story details the changes in the the Guardian since its publication of the Snowden files:

UK Security Services Neutralized Country’s Leading Liberal Newspaper September 11, 2019

The Guardian has been successfully deterred from producing its former adversarial reporting on the “security state,” report Matt Kennard and Mark Curtis.

By Matt Kennard and Mark Curtis.

....The Guardian had gone in six short years from being the natural outlet to place stories exposing wrongdoing by the security state to a platform trusted by the security state to amplify its information operations. A once relatively independent media platform has been largely neutralized by U.K. security services fearful of being exposed further. Which begs the question: where does the next Snowden go?

The Guardian did not respond to a request for comment.

From Media Lens, a good compilation of the ugly reality behind the Guardian's lying self-portrayal as a newspaper of fairness and principles:

I've been at rabble - babble since the outset at the mass actions against the Free Trade agreement of the Americas (or whatever it was called). No friend of capitalism, imperialism or ecocide. WSWS never stops shitting on Québec social movements and our right to self-determination. Not hard to understand that I mistrust them.

And yes, I'm aware of the rightward turn of the Guardian. But I'll have nothing to do with anything connected to the poisonous sectarians at the WSWS outfit.

At this point, I'm pretty sure the WSWS is just two incel Trots working out of one of their mom's rec rooms.  Not only do the shit on social movements in Quebec, they pretty much shit on any Left grouping anywhere on the planet that ever achieves ANY level of success.  By the WSWS, you're counterrevolutionary if you're not too minescule to notice.  They're basically "the Judean Popular People's Front".

Bizarre responses to a just posted article with many sources, none of which is WSWS, and most of which is the Guardian itself.

In the current reign of stupidity, shooting a messenger qualifies as way of dismissing facts without cause. Apparently, it doesn't even have be the actual messenger.

kropotkin1951

Apparently the Guardian being an imperial propaganda organs is irrelevant, instead we need to condemn some lefties that are rude and obnoxious to many. Given WSWS didn't even get quoted maybe we will see the same two posts appear randomly in other threads, just to make the point of who needs vilification.

Incel Trots. Wow that is very creative and a step up from calling people tankies.
