It isn't. He was born in Scarborough and grew up in St. John's and Windsor. Did he ever actually live there? I had the impression he lived in Toronto. He was a regular in the night clubs there.

More broadly, I get the impression that Singh just isn't comfortable outside his own orbit. Look at the way he wrote off Saskatchewan, and is MIA in interior BC,  in the prairies and on the east coast. It appears that he believes the narrative that he's the anwswer to a  breakthough in Greater Toronto.

I wonder what effect a possible win by the NDP in the Manitoba election might have on the NDP's national results.

Remember, in the run up to the 2015 election the NDP was actually in 3rd place, they only jumped to 1st place in May after the NDP won the Alberta election because that win made people believe that the NDP could win. If the NDP scores an upset in Manitoba it could lift the NDP's fortunes, definitely not into first place but maybe to the 25% range which would be huge for the party.

There was a poll released today showing the NDP 1 point behind the PCs (though with the huge caveat that it was by a firm called Converso Engagement Services Inc which is a new polling firm doing their first political poll, so the methodology might've been off.)

Twice today, I've gotten ads on YouTube from an organization called Fair Path Forward about how the carbon tax will benefit 8 out of 10 Canadians, and all the negative things you may hear about it are literally fake news. According to their About page:

Now, this may not be a Liberal front site, but it can't be CPC, because they hate the carbon tax, and it appears a bit too "market oriented" for even today's NDP, so unless it's a Green venture, it seems to be the Libs they are supporting. By the way, doing a whois search on fairpathforward.ca shows that the domain was created last January 15, and the registrant is Aubs & Mugg Inc. a design firm.

Or perhaps they think the NDP is too left-wing. For instance, the NDP opposes arms sales to Saudi Arabia (Liberals still arm Saudi Arabia, and are supported in this by Unifor).
