The majority of residents in Alberta and Saskatchewan think the earth is getting warmer, but not because of human activity. People in northern Alberta ridings have “extreme levels” of disbelief that climate change will harm them, Mildernberger said. For example, 70 per cent of adults in the federal riding of Fort McMurray-Cold Lake don’t think they’ll be personally affected, despite a devastating 2016 wildfire.

The majority of people in Alberta and Saskatchewan are literally ignorant. This is frightening. It seems education should be a federal responsibility. We are in a developed nation. There should not be any province in which a MAJORITY think climate change isn't a result of human activity. That smacks of extreme disinformation and propaganda.

When the majority of Canadians believe something incorrect, should education be further uploaded and become a United Nations responsibility?

I think the following quotes often attributed to Upton Sinclair might explain why all the education in the world might not be able to help some see reality:

Never argue with a a person whose job depends on not being convinced.
It is difficult to get a person to understand something, when their salary depends upon their not understanding it.
It can be very hard to understand something, when misunderstanding it is essential to your paycheck.
It is rather pointless to argue with a person whose paycheck depends upon not knowing the right answer.

Thanks JKR. The first candidate I ever volunteered for was Gary Clarke in 1972 who ran on a platform explicitly dealing with acid rain and Sudbury's contribution to the problem. He lost and all of your points were in evidence during the campaign. Everybody knew the problem, hell they tasted it in the air, but the only reason they were in Sudbury was for the paycheque. Like Ft. Mac today many people did not consider Sudbury home they considered somewhere in the Maritimes as home and they almost all retired back Down Home, my parents included. People will do pretty much any planet destroying job to support their families.
