Anybody out there use a bread machine? We have a B&D two paddle job which bakes good bread, but frequently, the paddles come off during the mixing process. (they're not supposed to come off until one takes out the finished loaf) Googling around says that this is common among a number of brands and styles, but nobody offers a fix. Does anybody know how to stop this?

Getting the paddle to stick to the shaft....
- egg, flour and water paste, honey
- roughen the shaft with sandpaper?

Havn't tried either of these, never had this problem, good luck.

I have the other problem. My paddles got stuck on and I couldnt take them off. Perhaps if you overdo your bread, you can get that to happen too?
I do not currently use the machine but I used it over a long period with the paddles stuck on and unable to budge them. Seemed not to damage the machine or the process.
Perhaps oat porrage would do this sticking well.
Oat porrage is really gooey and burns easily.
Make your porrage from cracked oats, strain off some of the gooey liquid and coat the shaft with it when it is cool. Then put on the paddles. The bread cooking process might weld the porrige glue into place. Let us know if you try it and if it works.

Are they good for making rye and ginger, anyone?

We took ours back to Canadian Tire and they replaced it for us. The new one is better. My suspicion is that B&D changed something on the assembly line.

Glad it worked out for you.

And those puns were awful. I'm changing babble policy, effective today.

I thought those puns were already banned - otherwise I wouldn't have made them.

You're a punster, born and bread.
