Is the federal Liberal party controlled by a secret society?
The coalition hatched by Layton and Dion would have seen a Liberal PM but the Liberal appointed GG rejected it as an option when she porogued.
Then Dion was dumped super quick, (without any kind of in party election) and his replacement Rejects the idea of being PM in January 2009!
Well, I have seen politics in a lot of countries, but I have never seen this before. Nothing remotely close.
Ignatief is saying loud and clear " Harper and the conservatives are better for the country than I am". He is also saying that right wing, give away the tax payers money to GM, the banks, and all the other corparate beggers is better than the government figuring out where to intervene. Have they not noticed that the holy free market is paralysed with fear and is incapable of acting coherently?
It makes no sense for a politician who believes in himself and his party and his policys,
to give up on becoming PM,
The whole dump Dion without consulting the party faithful leads me to conclude that Dion tried to escape the clutches of the REAL shadowy bosses of the Liberal party but was stopped in his tracks by their GG.
Who really runs the liberal party of Canada?
I don't know why I get into these partisan poking contests.
Maybe to point out again that such partisan pratfalls are not what Canadians are interested in hearing from political parties/people?
Think like an ordinary Canadian.
Do we want a hastily concocted Lib PM without our blessing? no
Does Ignatieff know that? yes
It isn't all just an internal politico-junkie game.
There are people watching.
People with vote power.
-ed to add-The thread doesn't live up to its name draw, Brian.
Where are the reptiles and secret code names etc?
An alternative explanation is that it made no sense for the GG to prorogue so she couldn't actually be trusted not to call a federal election if the budget had been voted down.
Now there's a scenario I can get behind. It's fairly clear she doesn't have a really firm grasp of the parliamentary process.
Wouldn't someone have asked her? Supreme court Judges in yankie land (and in Ireland) have to report on why and how they came to their decisions. The GG has pretty big powers too. Surely she should demonstrate her logic and reasoning too?
Othewise, we might as well appoint a coin as the next GG.
I do not buy the inscrutable GG stuff. she should be bound by logic and be held accountable like the rest of us.
Yes the reverse vampires, who are in league with the saucer people, are in charge.
Is it 4:20 yet?
Well, I guess it's possible we know different "majorities".
Perhaps if I'd said 'we', it would have been less obnoxious and closer to my real meaning - an invitation to think like people who are not intimately knowledgeable or necessarily partisan.
I still think it's a viable question: Does the country want an unknown, unelected PM?
I'm guessing Ignatieff's polling said 'no'.
The country does not know what it wants. The PM gets elected by the MP's.
In a parliamentary democracy, they decide not a pollster. I find it interesting that all the parties had a hate on for harper in the run in to the election but when push came to shove, Dion stood up finally, then along comes Iggie to kneel down and kissed his ring. (and you can read ring any way you want).
Almost. :)
Actually yes. If you check the history of the vast majority of our PMs they all belonged to a Fraternity of sorts, Rae Rhodes Scholar, Chretien was a jesuit something or other. Clinton was a Rhodes.
Interesting is the lsit for the Bilderburg Meeting in 2007
Notables :
Gerald Butts
Jason Kenny
Heather Reisman
Turkey had a lot of representation in 2007

2003 Saw such luminaries Rockerfeller, Kissinger, Wolfowitz, Colin Powell, Richard Pearle, Rumsfield, Conrad Black and our very own dear leader Stephen Harper. And again Heather Reisman
Canada is a constitutional monarchy rather than a republic so there is no parallel to the USA or the Republic of Ireland. The decision was at the discretion of the GG on behalf of the crown. She took the path of least resistance by proroguing parliament at Harper's request when there were strong precedents in place for letting his government fall and allowing Dion to form a government that had the confidence of the House. I suspect that if the budget had been rejected she would have taken the path of least resistance again by adopting a "let the people" decide posture.
Peter C. Newman in today's Globe op-ed, says it's in a carpeto-bagging tradition:
"Unlike his predecessor, Stephane Dion, who tried to fill the position on the basis of concensual apathy, Count Ignatieff has quickly, perhaps too quickly, taken charge - and thereby hangs a tale....All of the Liberal leaders who became prime minister during the six decades between the 1920s and 1980s were also carpetbaggers - in the sense that they wrested the leadership from the party's veteran worthies, who were shoved aside for the newcomers."
And now "because of his current success, Michael Ignatieff is considered a carpetbagger no more."
The former prime minister - Pierre E. Trudea was also jesuit trained & educated
Actually, last I checked neither Rae nor Clinton has ever been PM of Canada. Sorry, someone had to say it.
My vote for Who is Secretly Running the Liberal Party: The Spore People and the Mole People. They're still fighting it out, no clear winner has yet to emerge.
I must contest the above Saga. First, as best I can tell, people, generally, believe whatever they're told repeatedly. How Ignatieff came to power would all be a matter for history when he stood beaming and shoulder-to-shoulder with Obama. Instead we are left with this:
And yes, Canadians have a vote. But if a vote could be a dollar each Canadian was given to spend on his or her immediate future that could, in turn, determine one's quality of life for years and years to come, how many of those Canadians would turn to the lotto machines, one armed bandits having being mesmerized by the allure of fantasy over reality?
And for anyone really interested, the Liberal Party is run by that same gang of lawyers and corporate money that runs the Conservative Party.
