Setting up a Podcast

Steps to setting up a podcast.

1) In your menu go to Administer Categories, and choose Add Term.  http://rabble.ca/category_admin/add/10

2) Fill out the fields:

  •  a) Parents - choose the channels it will be listed under. Click on a channel, then click ADD to the right of it. Do this for as many channels as it belongs to.   NOTE: the first chanel on the list will be the one that it is displayed on in the Browse by channle page.
  •  b) Term Name - Podcast name
  •  c) Description - Podcast Description
  •  d) Weight - leave at 0
  •  e) Feedburner XML - see feedburner section below.
  •  f) Itunes - see itunes section below.
  •  g)Term Image - Here is where you upload the Image

2.5)  At the bottom of this list after Term Image is a set of fields for adding the term to a menu. Be careful here, as adding it to the wring menu will send it somewhere you don't want. The term parent chosen should be Podcast.  NOTE: only admins have this permission currently, so send your requests to support.   This will only affect the menu on the right side of the main landing page.

3) Find the user account for the podcaster who will be creating the show. You can search for a user account by typing  http://rabble.ca/search/user/(name)    You may need to make them an account or have them make it (preferable).

4) Click on the user and select the EDIT tab from their profile. In the profile, find the field for Forced term association, and select the apropriate podcast. Lots of notes here:

  •    NOTE: You may only access users who have the only the babbler/podcaster/toolkit permissions. If a user has extra permissions like an intern/staff/blogger, you need to have an admin person do this for you.
  •    NOTE: Many users may add items to a podcast, but only the user who creates an episode can edit that episode. An admin can change who owns the episodes, but only one user at a time.
  •    NOTE: BE CAREFUL :)  ... you have access to a lot of users accounts here. You basically can edit babblers personal information, passwords, usernames etc.  ONLY use this permission to Force the user to the term.

5) Feedbuner and itunes to come.
