Changing a Username

To change a username on the system you need to have the appropriate role.

Babble Admin - May change usernames that have only the Babble Moderator, Babble User, and Toolbox roles.

Membership Admin - May change usernames that have only the Babble Moderator, Babble User, Blog, Podcaster, and Toolbox roles.

If a user has another role such as columnist editor, or editor, you won't be able to change the username. You will need to contact an adminstrator to change this. We can expand the permissions as needed.

To change:

Locate user -> You can either go to Search Users (located in your right menu) and search a username here.  Or you can enter the url:   rabble.ca/search/users/searchterm

Edit User -> When found, click on the username and choose the EDIT tab. Under Account Settings you will see on of the first fields is USERNAME. You may change it here.

NOTE: Changing a username means that it will be changed throughout the entire site including old posts etc. This may seem odd in old posts where babble users refer to each other in the body of the text. Ie. if Ricky Steambolt changes his name to  "The Dragon" ... then users may be confused when they see a post reffering to Ricky's post above.. etc.
