Picking apart the Oath of Office taken by a police officer in Canada

The Oath or Affirmation of Office that is taken by a police officer, special constable or First Nations Constable in the province of Ontario is one of the following two forms:

I solemnly swear (affirm) that I will be loyal to Her Majesty the Queen and to Canada, and that I will uphold the Constitution of Canada and that I will, to the best of my ability, preserve the peace, prevent offences and discharge my other duties as (insert name of office) faithfully, impartially and according to law.

So help me God. (Omit this line in an affirmation.)

Free Mauritanian Biram Dah Abeid and other anti-slavery activists.

Mauritania has one of the worst records of slavery in the modern world. Although freed at birth by his mother's slavemaster, Mr. Abeid is sitting in jail in Mauritania for his work in fighting slavery.

About 0.5% of the world's population (some 35,000,000 million people) still live in abject slavery, which is one of the first five things prohibited by the UN Declaration of Human Rights.

Whether our families have been free for 20 generations or 1 like Mr. Abied, slavery must be abolished for every person on this planet.

"Walk Free" is a good organization in this struggle, and they have managed to put pressure on corporate retailers to end the Thai slave-powered trade in seafood.

Mulcair and Trudeau on Ottawa shootings and Conservative Terrorism Legislation

Will Mulcair's stance on the Ottawa shooting (that it was not a terrorist attack) and his apparent lack of suuport for any new anti-terrorism legislation persuade people for whom civil liberties are important to support the NDP instead of the Liberals, given that Trudeau called the shooting a terroist attack and seems to support bringing in new legislation to expand the powers of police and intelligence agencies?
