Introducing myself

OK Hello.  Fred Williams is my real name.  I used to work in the arms industry doing computer simulations and weapons testing until I left the industry for reasons of conscience in 1987.  I've been relatively poor ever since, but never regretted the decision.   My heros are Gandhi, Mandela, Che, and Einstein and a few others,... Real Democracy Now, Canada

On May 15th 2011 a non violent protest movement began in Madrid under the banner of Real Democracy Now! Since then, hundreds of thousands of citizens across Spain have taken to the streets to show their indignation at a tainted political system that has led the country to a distressed social and economic situation. These demonstrations have now spread to numerous European cities, and are still on the rise.

Dix's view on real estate speculation

Right now, massive amounts of money is being made by property speculators in Vancouver. One thing I like about Dix is I see him as the kind of politician who might tax the real estate elite.

The excessive speculation is extremely bad in Vancouver because its sucks up all the money of young adults. Say you have a young couple making $80K a year between them. They get house horny and take out a $800K mortgage. Now, every spare dollar goes to their mortgage. They don't spend in the local economy, they don't save, and can't try to start a business that might create jobs. We need jobs as our official unemployment approaches 10%, but all the money is in the land or going to banksters.

Interest Rates rise again, but where's the old Bank of Canada rate matching????

The big banks are raisiing mortgage rates again. What I want to know: why is no one talking about the big banks NOT matching the Bank of Canada key lending rate??? Like they used to, before the 2008 recession?

Remember when the Bank of Canada dropped its rate to 0.25% and the big banks REFUSED to follow, and kept their rates at 2.25%?

I knew they would never go back to the old ways, they got away with it. Since the Bank of Canada has raised its key lending rate since last year, now sitting at 1%, the big banks have also raised their rates. They're 3%, and apparently set to rise again, without the Bank of Canada raising its key rate.

criminal.

And even in an election, no one is talking about it.

High gas prices a speculation?

I know everyone talks about this a lot..but how much do you all pay for your gas? What does everyone think about the increasing gas prices? I pay almost $30 a day traveling back and forth from work.

A lot of news articles show that gas is most likely to keep going up - esp in April and May, but luckily our high Canadian dollar is actually helping us to restrain the gas price hikes.

And is it just me or do Canadian Tire gas locations seem to be cheaper? (P.S. Complete side note: just found out they're having a contest to win 1 of 3 $50,000 cash prizes and other great prizes when you visit their stores and get a Game Card. I just tried it - it's called the 50K giveaway).
