TAX the BANKS

It's time to tax the banks.

A campaign is already underway in the U.K. (see http://robinhoodtax.org.uk/) and some version of the idea has even been proposed by the IMF, strange as that may sound. You may have heard the news recently, with Finance Minister Flaherty going public with his veto on the idea:

Seems to me that this should be a no-brainer, as a campaign that can lift with wings...

CKLN needs letters of support

Toronto community radio station CKLN is facing a CRTC "show cause" hearing where it is to demonstrate to the CRTC why it should keep its licence.

As many of you know, CKLN went through a turbulent period in 2008 and 2009 when the then-managment purged dozens of programmers after the board refused to recognize an impeachment vote by the membership. The student government witheld money from the station and ultimately locked the doors in early 2009 after a break-in.

After the election of a new Board of Directors in July 2009, the programmers who had been locked out returned and normal programming resumed.

Not Rex Murphy: Humberto DaSilva

Humberto DaSilva won the Not Rex Murphy contest on rabble. If you missed the contest, you can read about it at: http://rabble.ca/rabbletv/notrex .

Here is Humberto's first Not Rex commentary, on the Greek economic crisis. Athough the Greek Debt Crisis is being blamed on deficits, Wall Street firms have been profiting on Greek debt for years.

Check out the video. Any feedback for Humberto?

Canada's Dirty Little Secret

From my website: http://www.politicallyincorrectandproudofit.net

Canada is pretty much 'recognized as a beacon of 'Human Rights &  Democracy.  It's been touted as the country that 'successfully' embraces multiculturalism like none other. It's known as the 'Land Of The Strong And Free'.   And like most Canadians, I grew up proudly believing it was, with all my heart and soul.
