Partisan Politics and the NDP

The comments by NDP supporters in some threads came to mind when I read the link below.  Here is an excerpt:

"There is an unfortunate transformation that some sometimes undergo when they become a part of what is the institution of our New Democratic Party.

Andrea Horwath’s Ontario New Democrats starting to implode?

Andrea Horwath's Ontario New Democrats starting to implode?

After just one year at the helm of the already leaky ship known as the Ontario New Democratic Party, under Andrea Horwath the ship maybe ready to sink as she continues to lose control over her party and her members.

Portrayed as the fresh, new and moderate face of the Ontario NDP to the public, within her party she is quickly gaining the reputation of old labour guard, hypocrite and autocrat if Facebook, Rabble, the Toronto Star and general political gossip are anything to go by.

Calgary Conservative MP lobbied his own government to bailout his almost bankrupt company?

I have stumbled upon the following information while doing research on a Calgary MP. I thought it might be of interest:

Since this letter is rather lengthy, I will provide the following summary, followed by the letter. I do urge you to also read the letter as it contains a lot of information I cannot include in a summary:

· Calgary Centre MP, Lee Richardson, is the director and chairman of Streetlight Intelligence Inc. (http://ciec-ccie.gc.ca/ClientDeclarationPreviewMembers.aspx?DeclarationI..., http://streetlightiq.com/About/InvestorRelations/BoardofDirectors/tabid/... )

ONDP MPP waxes eloquent in support of Tory private member motion against racist hate on UWO campus by Ann Coulter

Ha ha, fooled you.

Some gems from Ann Coulter's speech at UWO:

“As a 17-year-old student of this university, Muslim, should I be converted to Christianity? Second of all, since I don’t have a magic carpet, what other modes do you suggest,” Al-Dhaher said to loud and sustained applause.

“I thought it was just American public schools that produced ignorant people,” Coulter replied, prompting her own round of applause.

Coulter then noted many Japanese were converted to Christianity after the Second World War and “we haven’t heard a peep out of them.”

Rossi: Don't call me Right (wing)

So I was came across an article in today's Star where basically Mayoral candidate Rocco Rossi insists that he isn't "Right Wing" that he is instead a "pragmatist" he doesn't eat meat (why that would matter in the left-right spectrum is beyond me) and this old chestnut he actually bikes himself! Instead he states he is "fiscally conservative, socially liberal" Shit, if I heard a nickle for everytime I hear that, and further he is neither left nor right both phrases I've heard the Green Party spout for quite some time. Anyways, discuss.

Not Rex Murphy: Humberto DaSilva

Humberto DaSilva won the Not Rex Murphy contest on rabble. If you missed the contest, you can read about it at: http://rabble.ca/rabbletv/notrex .

Here is Humberto's first Not Rex commentary, on the Greek economic crisis. Athough the Greek Debt Crisis is being blamed on deficits, Wall Street firms have been profiting on Greek debt for years.

Check out the video. Any feedback for Humberto?

UA: Liberal Left Style

As Liberals and those of the larger activist block I call "Progressives" (those individuals who are not only Liberals but NDPers,Greens and anyone who doesn't like Stephen Harper) have just witnessed a do-nothing budget which will likely lead to a federal election this fall, Progressive activists should take a few moments to think about 2 anniversaries happening this year that could help shape the direction they would like to see the country move towards before and after the next federal election.

Ignatieff and Israeli apartheid: Then and Now

"When I looked down at the West Bank, at the settlements like Crusader forts occupying the high ground, at the Israeli security cordon along the Jordan river closing off the Palestinian lands from Jordan, I knew I was not looking down at a state or the beginnings of one, but at a Bantustan, one of those pseudo-states created in the dying years of apartheid to keep the African population under control." - Michael Ignatieff, The Guardian, April 19, 2002.

Canada's Dirty Little Secret

From my website: http://www.politicallyincorrectandproudofit.net

Canada is pretty much 'recognized as a beacon of 'Human Rights &  Democracy.  It's been touted as the country that 'successfully' embraces multiculturalism like none other. It's known as the 'Land Of The Strong And Free'.   And like most Canadians, I grew up proudly believing it was, with all my heart and soul.

Is it time to give up on Nazi war criminals in Canada?

This article I read in the Toronto Star this week got me thinking; Is it time we abandon the search for Nazi war criminals in Canada? Helmut Oberlander, who has never been found guilty of war crimes but the Federal Copurt has said he lied about his Nazi service during the war is still in Canada. He was a translator for a Nazi mobile killing unit in the Ukraine. No eveidence he ever actively participated in the mass murders but what exactly did a translator do for a Nazi mobile killing unit? He can still be denaturalized and deported for lying about his work as a Nazi translator if the Federal Cabinet moves forward. What do you think?

Losing control of the herd?

First this,

and now this.

With Maurice Vellacott still very darn mad at the idea of gay marriage, and Rob Anders still thinking Nelson Mandela a terrorist and you can see why Harper has them gagged at every opportunity. Let them speak and they'll come out with stuff that helps grow excellent roses.

A Response to Kelly McParland

Kelly McParland of the National Post today published an article oozing with sarcasm and weak humour, pillorying the opposition's ever so outrageous decision to raise questions about the Harper Government's decision to radically change a generation-old status quo in Canadian international development policy favoring modern reproductive practices, access to safe abortion services, sexual education and contraception.

There are times in life where a piece of writing, in tone, argument, substance and spirit is so intolerable one can't help but respond. One sarcastic ideological jape deserves another.
