College universitaire de Saint-Boniface students rally with hundreds of University of Winnipeg students this Wednesday in Winnipeg. The students were taking part in a day of action to keep a tuition freeze the province has maintained for the past three years.
The students marchedfrom the university, through the downtown to the legislature wherePost-Secondary Education Minister Diane McGifford was presented with a3,000-signature petition. McGifford refused to promise that the freeze wouldbe included in the NDP’s budget. Manitoba’s NDP government cut tuition by ten per cent in its 2000 budget.
In the slide show that follows, the woman surrounded by journalists is McGifford.
