Show Notes:
ALERT this week features interviews with Petr Cizek and Maureen Webb. Cizek is the author of "Scouring Scum and Tar from the Bottom of the Pit", an article that appeared in the July/August issue of Canadian Dimension magazine. Webb is the author of a new book Illusions of Security, Global Surveillance and Democracy in the Post 9/11 World. In his interview, Cizek talks about the way Canadian environmental organizations have eased off their demands for a moratorium of oil sands developments as a result of the funding they have received from the Pew Foundation. The Pew family were the original developers of the tar sands and continue to own Sunoco. In her interview, Webb talks about the Maher Arar case in the light of her work on global surveillance and human rights. Produced by Pat Krawec & Cy Gonick. Copyright of Canadian Dimension magazine.
