I learned this story when i was small. I don't remember any other stories my grandmother told. But some of this one stuck with me despite the amnesia of childhood. I've probably filled in some of the blanks with new bits. But it feels like what i grew up with. It's a timely piece since last week was Mardi Gras and that's when this story takes place.
