Episode One: Violent Chick Flicks

| February 8, 2006

Show Notes:

What are your thoughts on violent female characters in pop culture? Uma Thurman as The Bride in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill is a perfect example of the kind of aggressive heroine that’s becoming more common in movies today. Judy Rebick sees these women as appalling, but Cathi Bond finds that seeing a chick kick ass on screen can be a source of pleasure. These two valiant verbalists go head to head and dish out some body blows about the issue. Their introductory statements will give you a bit of a taste of what’s to come in Round 2 of the debate. Don’t forget, you can also jump into the ring by logging on and sharing your views on the babble forum.
