Rabble RumbleArchived

Episode Two: Violent Chick Flicks

| February 13, 2006

Show Notes:

Judy Rebick is back with some new thoughts as the debate continues over whether or not violent women in films are empowering. In Round One of the rumble, Cathi Bond disagreed with Judy’s opinion that killer female film leads are a big step back for feminists. Cathi likened characters like the Bride in Kill Bill to the powerful ‘femme fatale’ figures in movies of the 30s and 40s. In her opinion, it’s exciting to see a woman on screen take control. Now, feminist Judy returns to throw a few more proverbial punches. Stay tuned for more episodes as the rabble rumble unfolds.
