I'm not a doormat: Feminism in metal & punk

| October 1, 2010

Show Notes:

Leslie Wilkin and Ellie Gordon-Moershel give a brief history of women's involvement in the metal and punk music scenes.  From hair metal band Vixon, to the exploits of Wendy O. Williams, to Canadian hard core punk band Kittie, women have been tearing it up for decades.  Faced with many obstacles, feminism had still managed to find its space within the contemporary scene as evident with the annual Smash The Sausage Fest and blogs such as Feminist Headbanger.
