Abortion and reproductive rights -- still under attack

Women's reproductive rights continue to be controversial and move many politicians to declare restrictions on women's freedoms and their access to reproductive health services and abortion.  Recently, there have  been several such challenges both in the U.S. and Canada, such as proposed de-funding of Planned Parenthood in the United States and a private members bill proposed by a conservative MP that would re-open the abortion debate in Canada.

On this show, Laura Wood speaks with Barbara Hestrin, president-elect of Options for Sexual Health about some of these recent political challenges. Also, Nicole Deagan talks with Erin, who has worked as an abortion counsellor for over 20 years in both Canada and Britain, about what it's like working in an abortion clinic; what the common experiences are for women seeking abortions; and why it's important for us to retain our access to this medical procedure.

More people are reading than ever and unlike many news organizations, we have never put up a paywall – at rabble we’ve always believed in making our reporting and analysis free to all. But media isn’t free to produce. rabble’s total budget is likely less than what big corporate media spend on photocopying (we kid you not!) and we do not have any major foundation, sponsor or angel investor. Our only supporters are people and organizations -- like you. This is why we need your help.

If everyone who visits rabble and likes it chipped in a couple of dollars per month, our future would be much more secure and we could do much more: like the things our readers tell us they want to see more of: more staff reporters and more work to complete the upgrade of our website.

We’re asking if you could make a donation, right now, to set rabble on solid footing.
