Apparently the "unhinged" approach is working just fine from folks who love the status quo health care system in the U.S.  When a U.S. Senator invokes "Death Panels" and a white man brings a loaded gun to an Obama health care rally, and when "town hall meetings"  are organized shoutdowns it's enough to make you sick.  And it will our American friends, it will.  Polling shows that this seems to be working as the Obama team and Democrats go into defense mode (giving up on end of life consultation) and are late getting their game on.  And for what?  Single payer?  Nope.  Still plenty of private insurance money to be made in the proposal.  Where's that vomit bag?
