jhr Montreal correspondent Adam Bemma speaks to Flora Terah, a Kenyan parliamentary candidate fighting for women's rights in Africa. Terah was attacked and tortured for being one of 200 women running in Kenya's 2007 elections. Speaking out against gender-based violence, Terah is a voice for change in a patriarchal society.
Her first book They never killed my spirit, but they murdered my only child recounts her struggle to overcome the abuse she faced and how she continues to fight for youth in Kenya after losing her 19-year-old son.
